Speaking of, how does that work, the whole he-was-on-IR-and-coudn't-play-but-now-he-can thing? Is the fact that his contract was voided mean that his IR designation went away as well?

I think you can release anyone off of IR at any time provided they can pass a physical or you have reached an injury settlement with them. However, they cannot re-sign with the team that put them on injured reserve. The IR designation for Hood was only with Jacksonville, so if he's no longer on the team he cannot have the designation. Generally it doesn't happen much since teams usually want to keep the players they have on IR.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Makes sense, but it does seem like an "infrequently performed evolution".

According to Rotoworld, it is speculated that Alex Mack will opt out of his contract this offseason. Wonder if Dave would take another swing at him in the offseason. Mack would lock down the center position and then Wiz and Cann could battle it out at LG.

I am as much a Browns fan as I am a Jags fan (was at the stadium on Sunday). Mack is damaged goods. He has been getting bullied all season.

If a player on injured reserve is able to pass a physical and resume playing, a team has the option of releasing them. Not sure if an injury settlement has to be involved or not, but Hood was apparently released without one.

Is it because of the leg injury last year? Didn't he make a "full' recovery?

Does anyone expect the Jags to keep Toby Gerhart and his 3.5 MIl salary in 2016?

Count that money as surplus salary cap going into the 2016 offseason.

Nothing in his contract is guaranteed at this point. We could cut him tomorrow and he'll be off the books come next year.

I don't see why we don't use TJ Yeldon in goal line situations. If he's who we thought he was, he can get it done.

this, they guy is one of the best goaline backs ever at Ala. Did anyone not see the pre season goaline play where he dove over the whole line and went head up with the defender. Yeldon should be our goaline back, he can go around, jump over, sliver through, whatever we need him to do

I have been mulling over the idea of signing

Maliek Jackson - DE - Broncos

to play the Big DE with Jared Odrick.

He seems to be having a very good year along with just about everybody on that Bronco defense.

Don't underestimate the value of Wade Wilson as a Defensive Coach. The man knows how to prepare a Defense.

Justin Tucker and Mason Crosby. Hopefully Dave pulls out the check book for one of these guys. Adam Vinatari is another, he already has the rings so maybe the best kicker ever would want to come to no state tax on his last nfl contract

I was wondering if anyone was going to mention J-No. We are sweating hoping we are going to keep him. I know we don't want to franchise him but I can't imagine we would let him walk either. He's gonna get paid for sure though.

I doubt he'll make in into FA, worst comes to worst they'll tag him.
