Agreed. There was no one in the 2nd round that compared to Fowler, so the drop off there is much more significant than Gurley to Yeldon. Plus a pass-rusher is a much more important position.

Yeldon doesn't have a half season under his belt, he has had really one great game in his career and people are lined up to say how he reminds them of some great player. He has been hurt and was averaging 3 ypc and everbody was questioning him, now it's 180 reversal and this kid was a steal.

His next 11 for 33 yard game it will be calling him a bust. This fanbase is schizo.

Let the season play out, see his durability, his ability to consistently perform, then draw conclusions.

Exactly. We may never know but for arguments sake lets say Fowler is healthy and their play per position is equal. We'd have a stud DE + possible top flight RB.

Some people on here wanted us to draft Gordon in the 1st. I never wanted the guy and not sure if I would ever draft a RB for Wis. but to be fair the guy is probably running behind the worst oline in football with all the injuries SD has to their line. When you go from possibly the best oline in college to the worst oline in the NFL its probably not going to end up good. I think Gordon will have a good year next year if they can get their line healthy. I would of took Coleman over any back in the draft not named Gurley though but the way Yeldon has looked im happy with the pick.

It wasn't about disagreeing with the thread, it was all the silliness you wrote about. You mentioned that he did it against the bills like that was a negative yet the bills are a top team against the run. So no, you were not correct. All that other giberish you wrote about was just that.

I've said it all along on numerous other threads. Bama-homer here. I've watched more of the guy than probably most all on this board. Don't take his dancing around as a negative; he tries hard to make something out of nothing. Once he adjusts to the speed/talent of the NFL and settles in, he's going to be a better than average runningback. We may have seen the beginning of that against the Bills.

I said let the season play out, and yes it was one game against the Bills who are in full meltdown mode with a coach about ready to lose his team.

Bottom line I don't care if Yeldon average 4 YPC or 5.8, it was one game, one long run to inflate the numbers and ended up with a whopping 115.

Suddenly those other 11 for 33 games are no longer remembered, suddenly all the bama homers here think he is the second coming of Fredddddie.

Well he ain't. UNDERSTAND THAT GIBBERISH?

Now whether he will be a serviceable back is another story but anyone writing a thread saying "See, told ya he was first round stuff" is full

of mularkey at this point. We don't know what we have at this point, nobody does.

It's a passing league people, backs have to hold leads, to take over when it's crappy and everyone knows a run is coming.

They have to break tackles consistently, reverse on a dime when a hole is blocked, and have durability after some big hits. They have to catch dump offs like faulk and make two men miss. I have never seen Yeldon do that. I haven't seen him be a passing threat.

So far he has looked pretty average to good, against some really bad teams.

So a lot of unknown questions about Yeldon, but be impressed because he got 100 yards against the bills. Cake and Ice cream too?

When he gets his next 1.4 YPC game you all come back and talk about how special he is.

If we are satisfied with a back that plays well against bad teams, well he might be able to do that, but is he a pro bowl caliber back who is a piece that takes us to the next level by being a weapon everyone has to respect?

That has not been shown to me to date.

Yeldon is top 10 in the league in broken tackles. :/

Hays Carlton article on Yeldon physical conditions on Sunday:

Yeldon was sick Saturday and Sunday, requiring two intravenous bags.

“I don’t know if it was food poisoning or a stomach bug that’s going around, but I was throwing up since I woke up [Saturday],” Yeldon said. “I couldn’t eat or drink.

“I didn’t think I was going to play. But they put a [second] IV in me and I was ready to go.”

Yeldon averaged a season-best 5.8 yards per carry and his 28-yard touchdown was not only his first rushing score, but the Jaguars’ first of the year. They were the last team to finally score a rushing touchdown.

The Jaguars couldn’t do anything in short-yardage situations, including four empty shots from the Buffalo 1-yard line, but Yeldon – who watched that sequence from the sideline – looked healthy.

“The groin didn’t bother me; it was all good,” he said. “The [offensive line] did a good job. They opened up some holes and I was able to get some yards and do my thing.”

What we saw is what happens when Yeldon gets actual room to run. He's very line dependent but in a good way, in the sense that he's going to find the hole 90% of the time.

It's different from what we're used with guys like Fred and MJD who make their own room. He may never be either of those guys but he's absolutely a serviceable, good back, and probably the 2nd best RB taken in the draft last year.

No idea what Bama or any other college have to do with it. I couldn't care less about alamaba or the stupid gators or semi noles or whatever else and I judge players based on how they play in the NFL.

Yeldon looks good, he's a second round rookie, you keep pushing out points that are invalid. Calling the Bills trash yet they were top 5 in run D going into the game. Saying Yeldon can't break tackles yet he's top 10 in the league in broken tackles.

Reminds me of Jamal Anderson of the Atlanta Falcons. Not quite as much of a bull as Jamal, but running style is reminiscent. IMHO.
