The Giant Fire Gus & Dave Thread (MERGED)

Benching House for Gratz was the equivalent of saying, "OK, I need to show everyone that they are to be held accountable. I'm gonna throw this dart at that target, and whoever's name it lands on will be benched".

That's how random that benching was.

To be fair - Hopkins abused House. Some of it was good play by a very good receiver. Some of it including the second TD was on House.

I mean, does anybody think Gratz would've done better left on an island against one of the best receivers in football?

Hell no. Gratz would have given up 200 yes and 3 TDs.

The "demotion" was clearly a weak attempt at driving home some accountability to the team when they knew they were about to face a team without an elite receiver. If Watkins had played - I'd bet a hundred bucks House would have been on him by the second quarter.

That said -- I'm not crazy about House. He has made some good plays, but he's also made some ugly gaffs. I don't have access to my own computer and gif making or I'd put up some examples of him getting turned around and having lapse in footwork/technique. He may be our best option at the moment, but he's not the answer long term, IMO. We need another Colvin. (and a fee safety)

I read your thoughts on House's performance last week. I respect your football IQ on like 90% of your takes. But we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.

I put up a video of the 2nd TD in another thread... House was pushed off on after the 5 yard buffer, and Evans failed to help over the top.

I thought House had the one mistake on the first Hopkins TD. I thought the rest of the game, he played good to very good...

I just don't think we're gonna see eye to eye on this one, NYC4jags...

It was the TD with 11:20 on the clock in the fourth quarter I'm speaking of. Was that Hopkins first or second? House got beat trying to spy the QB and let Hopkins leak to the back of the end zone. Maybe we mean the same one.

There was also the 29 yard sideline pass just before that where House pulled up at the end of the route for no apparent reason. That had to have Gus fuming.

(edit: it was the first TD I meant - he did get shoved on the second)

Quote:Sorry dude, that's what happens when you are the HC. Because everything that happens to this team is on him.

He benched House who has been our best CB for a guy that got torched by a player with 2 career catches. He is still allowing Myers to be the kicker of this team which is laughable at this point. We are the only team that waits until a player hits rock bottom to get rid of them. Myers has already missed 3 XPs and multiple game winners. We have been the worst 2nd half team in the league. I mean we let EJ MANUEL AND ROBERT WOODS erase a 24 point lead. EJ FRIGGIN MANUEL DUDE.

I'm stoked we got the win but let's be honest, if it wasn't for defensive TDs (which you can never count on) we would have lost this game.
who else is going to kick? he's the only kicker we have....it's pretty obvious why Gus supports him...Gus doesn't hire players, that's on Caldwell...so being the only kicker on the team I would say we will continue to see him week in and week out...

Ok, I can understand your post but who gets credit for the good defensive play? I'm sure no one will give Gus any credit for the good [BAD WORD REMOVED], but he will certainly get credit for the [BAD WORD REMOVED] up [BAD WORD REMOVED]...

Quote:what would you say if they fired Gus and the interim didn't win a single game and we were blown out several more times?
Find yourself a new coach.

I didn't know that was a difficult question to answer. Gus isn't the answer and so isn't the interim coach.

However, I am willing to wait out the rest of the year. See what Gus can do with the 2nd half.

The guy you sign to replace him? You know, the one that can hit the broad side of a barn from ten paces?

What the Bills press said after the game...

This was a loss that I have to categorize as deplorable. The Bills lost to Jacksonville, there's no excuse for that. I know the Bills are playing with half an offense, maybe less when you include the EJ calamity factor, but when you lose to the Jaguars, you can't possibly consider yourself a true playoff contender

No... which reminds me...

What do you think Gus' game plan is for Brandon Marshall?

Give him a 10 yard cushion and drop into soft zone.
Make the Jags Great Again
Blake Bortles......YOU'RE FIRED!
Dave Caldwell.....YOU'RE FIRED!

that wasn't the topic of the post you read...I had replied to a post saying that "Gus has allowed Myers to keep being the kicker" and there is no one else to kick...Gus doesn't hire players and as long as there is only one kicker I would imagine that Gus will keep "allowing Myers to keep kicking"

Nope, that's not what happens to this HC. He's getting no credit for wins, only losses.

If his coaching decisions contributed to wins, he'd get more credit. The Jags won this week in spite of Gus Bradley, not because of him.

Did anyone tell Gus' wife that she's only supposed to vote once?

That just goes to show that there are a lot more unknowledgeable Jags fans then we previously thought.

Actually, that could very well be true in here also, after reading some of the posts I have read in here.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

just goes to show you the 20 people on here and even fewer over at BCC that are always looking for blood (HC gotta get fired, someone gotta get fired) really aren't the voice of the majority.

And should probably spend way less time on the sites.....

Saw this on the news yesterday. It does seem to suggest that the pitchfork crew exist in a lower ratio in the real world.
