2014 NFL Draft - Rounds 1 and 2

#1

Jax vs. Oak:

Here's a question for you all, and i honestly don't know what i'd do.

Bortles and Lee

or

Mack and Carr.

Let's assume the Raiders took Bortles with their #1 so no trade up is required to net Carr.  Which do you pick?  I really struggle because i'm a really big fan of Bortles.  That said, Carr is really suprising me this year, Mack is a monster, and Lee is a no show.

Carr is really good. These two may be the future studs in this league one day. The question really should just be Carr vs. Bortles. It's too early to make that call though.

The 2014 draft could be the best the Jags have ever had. The first 5 rounds are crazy:

1. Bortles

2. Lee/A. Robinson

3. Linder

4. Colvin

5. Telvin Smith

A stud in each of the first 5 rounds is insanely good drafting.

I don't think it should, we could have easily took Mack, in fact, that's what i was guessing and rooting for draft day.  I'm pretty sure Oak would have taken Bortles then, so there's a good chance we'd have flipped the draft.

I take Bortles over Carr without a doubt. Carr is pretty much like Bridgewater. They are both at their ceiling and what they do is gonna be it for the next decade. Where Bortles is continually pulling new tricks out of his hat every Sunday and has yet to show his full potential.

How about:

1. Mack

2. Carr/A. Robinson

3. Linder

4. Colvin

5. Telvin Smith

? Might be even better.

I'd take Bortles too, but that's not the question i'm asking.  Mack is an insane talent at a very important position.  He'd help this defense immensly.

If he was 20 pounds heavier, I think he would've gone two or three rounds earlier. Good for us though

Let's make it more interesting. Would you rather have Carr/Mack or Bortles/Allen Robinson? Now that's a tough call.

Glad i don't have to make these decisions.  This thread so far is completely ignoring how good Mack is.

Mack is great. But it's the same as the "would you trade Blake for Watt?"

Give me a franchise qb and top 10 reciever over a phenomenal LB any day.

That's where Carr comes into the question, it's not the same. I'm comparing two players to each other, not one.

This I could live with, but I can't help but think that Carr is just about as good as he's going to get. Carr got some top flight QB coaching while at Fresno State while Blake got... well nothing. It's not that I think Carr is bad or that he won't ever be good. But rather that I think Bortles has so much more potential in him.

Give me the top flight QB Prospect and pretty much anyone else over the lesser QB every time. And twice on Sundays.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Ok, so you're ignoring my question.  That's fine, but take it to another thread, that's not what i'm asking.

I tend to agree with you, but Carr has progressed much more than i thought he would this year.  And Mack is ridiculous.  I don't think it's a slam dunk by any means.  Right now, Oakland is looking like the better team, Carr and Mack are a big piece of that puzzle.
