Trade deadline

I can't see a player or two from free agency make any real difference.. But I can see another successful draft putting this team over this god awful steep mountain they've been trying to climb..

Gimmie the picks..

Quote:Good luck trading with a division rival. McCourty is going to New England to play with his brother. The Titans are getting a head start on blowing it all up. Wouldn't be surprised if they start tanking.

Blowing what up? Never been anything

Quote:Saying the roster is built is saying
the pieces are in place for the foundation of this team to start to turn the corner.  It's up to the players to recognize this and rise to the challenge. .

There was a lot more to that comment than "it's built", but you're either not smart enough to recognize this, or you've got an agenda that requires you to ignore facts.  Which is it?

There is no deeper context here. He flat out stated it's built and has even reaffirmed
it since. No, not "the foundation" being ready or to "turn the corner"..."BUILT". The words he actually said. That it's built and that it's time. If what you're saying is true he would've said it. You don't say something bold like that as a head coach if that's not what you mean. Especially in this day of sports media. There is no deeper context. You legit sound like Gus' PR team trying to save face here.

As predictable as you are I know you'll reply likely, insulting my intelligence, saying it's **so obviously** what he meant and anyone who disagrees just doesn't get it, while you will continue to believe you are correct.

But keep reading into things and taking them as you want. Gus clearly believed this roster was more ready than it actually was. Honestly, I did too before the season. I think most of us did.

Well that was uneventful like most of us predicted

Happens every year. NFL.com, ESPN, SI post lists of trades they would like to see or think could happen. We hear about players "on the trading block" or that could be traded. And then the deadline passes with almost no action.

Seems like price tags were too high this year. Not late round picks but 1-3rd rounders.

It's like this every year. People just have short memories.

It's not so much that price tags were too high. It's more that the players are only floated for deadline deals for one of two reasons: they're washed up and out of the team's plans, or they've become more trouble than they're worth in the locker room. You'll never see: "Packers trade Aaron Rodgers to Washington!", printed the day of the trade deadline.

Trades are rare in today's NFL.  And only getting more rare.

It takes a very specific need for a team, coupled with a trade partner who is willing to part ways.

If it isn't a fire sale, you're not likely to have any big names on the trade list.

built to win the afcs is what he said.

even at 6-10, what Gus said could be true.

I know. Win this division this year and Gus is totally and utterly vindicated no matter what else transpires or how it happened.

We aren't though. Other teams in turmoil to help us doesn't make us built to win the division. It makes us lucky.

built => help is not on the way

For the first time, we had starter material at every position.  That had not been true previously.

To split hairs on that topic is an exercise in futility.  Borderline lunacy.  It doesn't change anything or factor in any way.

I don't know about all that. Win the division and you certainly buy some time, despite record or how it happened.

Vindicated?

Other teams in turmoil?

So when other teams have injuries or awful coaching, they are in turmoil.

But when we have it happen, it's the end of the world, and not a good excuse for us.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. I have 0 shame in winning the division with a losing record. I don't care if we beat the Muppet Babies in London and the Tiny Toons with Buster Bunny at QB....

I don't care if a team is on its 3rd string QB. Or their star RB is hurt. Or they have an interim coach, or a failing flailing rehashed coach.

I don't care about any of that noise. If we win, I'm happy. Pretty, ugly, in between.

Fact of the matter is... the Gus haters cringe at the thought of winning.

For the most stupid of reasons. Short sightedness has you giving up on what could be, because somehow, you all already know what will be.

Just to set the record straight, wins against bad teams don't count, only wins against good teams.

But we're clearly not a good enough team to beat the good teams, so we should lose to all teams, to improve draft position, get rid of Bradley, and start with a whole new coach staff next year.

If we win, it's bad. If we lose, it's bad.

You guys are silly.

When every coach in the AFC south could lose their job I'd say there is turmoil.

And yes how we win is important. It's a measuring stick how far this team is away from the big game. A lot of players care about this as well. It's a pride thing. You want to beat the best by every means. Wins are great but they don't always tell the story how good your team is.

And if he wins the division at 6-10 then gets pasted in the division next year?

After years of losing just about every game.... I'll take a win any way I can get it.

Winning these tough gritty games is a building step. No one should have expected this team to compete with the Pats.

Which was the only game we were really blown out in.

So they've been quite competitive, and they have won a couple, with a chance to get better.

If we win 4 more games, and they aren't ONLY AFCS teams... I don't see how you could honestly not like the direction of the team.

I agree though, if we can only beat bad AFCS teams, it'll be a problem.

As of now though... we have beaten a couple AFCE teams, that might not be the Pats but surely aren't the tacks or tinhorns.

If Dante Fowler is what we hope he is then it may not come to that.
