Yet another Jags are moving to London article...

#41

Concerning London, I see the NFL getting up to 8 games/year there but with all the teams rotating through. There may be one or two "core" teams, the Jaguars probably being one, who play there every year but basing one team there would introduce travel and logistical issues. This would be unfair to that London based team.

The soccer connection may be the trade-off now the Mr. Khan has Fulham in the fold. Maybe an English Premier League match will be played here at some point as our "10th home game" or, more likely, maybe we'll see exhibition types matches (do they call them "friendlies"?) with the US Olympic team or one of our pro teams.

Buy tickets and have your friends buy tickets and the Jaguars won't go anywhere. Watch the video boards, swimming pools and palm trees go in next year as the plan for the Shipyards unfolds. Get your season tickets during the off season and have the best view of it all.

Season Ticket holder since 2004. Smile

But then again, Khan did tell the previous owner of Fulham that he would keep the statue of Michael Jackson standing in front of Craven Cottage, and now it's gone.

If Khan doesn't respect Michael JACKSON, he doesn't respect JACKSONville.

See what I did there? It clearly reveals a conspiracy.

Quote:Wow, lotta hate for the messenger huh? I personally see London or L.A. as a distinct possibility after the next 4 years if our Franchise doesn't have some success. I believe Khan only agreed to keep us here for the next 5 years in the sale with Weaver. That means in 2017, it could start becoming a real possibilty. I think some people become like a ostrich and put their head in the sand on this topic. Is it painful to acknowledge, yep. Will it happen? I don't know, but it certainly seems more possible with Khan than it did with Weaver. But at the same time, if we get rolling (winning) I don't think we will move.

I am not gonna worry about it. If the Jags move, well Orlando has been forcing Miami and Tampa down my throat for years, I guess I can go for the Buc's. Not near as cool as being a rare Jag fan though. Lot more street cred with the Jags.

I was about to post the same message.

The message is simple, if Khan isnt making the profits/revenue he sees fit in Jacksonville, he will look elsewhere, the fans can sellout each and every game and it may still not matter.

The only way this team stays in the Jax market if building a new stadium in SJC which would see ticket increases by up to 40-65%.

I don't think anybody is "hating the messenger" for the posting the link. But I think it is pretty clear (based on the posting history) that he has zero intent on engaging in any type of dialogue regarding the team and it's future in Jacksonville. The article posted is really nothing. It's an opinion piece written by a journeyman special teams player. There is nothing of any substance in it.

That's a new one.

Selling out every game with the average Ticket price $80.00 per person, and  a projected yearly operating profit of only 13-35 million a year means NOTHING to Khan.

Selling out every game with the average Ticket price $225.00 per person and a projected yearly operating profit of only 50-95 million a year mean ALOT to Khan.

So how will playing in SJC ensure that?

Booming population/Affluent community.

Half or slightly the majority of STH resides in Southern Duval, PVB, Jax Beaches, Northern SJC areas.

Mr. Khan's motivation as far as the Jaguars are concerned is not money. He has stated as much on numerous occasions. The Jags are one of his hobbies. He will strive to put a winner on the field because that is his desire. He wants a super bowl ring and I believe he will someday have it. The corresponding championship trophy will reside at Everbank field.

Building a new stadium isn't magically going to up ticket revenue by 40%. even if you build it near rich people. This franchise doesn't need a new stadium, it needs to keep the current one up to date and sell tickets, especially the premium seats and the suits.

Simply Disagree.

The reason the last half dozen NFL teams built completely new stadiums is to increase revenue profits, ie Cowboys, Giants/Jets, Clots, etc. They played the game of keeping the old stadiums up to date and it came a point to where it just simply wasn't enough anymore.

Teams are going away from the motto of building/refurbishing new stadiums in urbanized areas because it just isnt profitable anymore, the goal is to attract and keep the affluent STH's, the best way to do that is to build a new stadium near their demographic that is convenient for them. Just look at what the Braves did recently.

Jacksonville is very quickly nearing that end.

You are wrong on basically everything you just said.

The old stadiums were built without the premium seating. It has nothing to do with the age of the stadium and everything to do with what is in it. The Jaguars stadium was really the first of it's kind. There is a reason the Falcons and Rams stadiums are outdated despite being near the same age.

And your attempt to compare baseball to football does not work. You cannot compare 10 home games to 81.

And teams don't build stadiums in "urbanized areas"? Nobody told the Falcons or Vikings.

You are wrong on everything you just said as well.

The majority of old stadiums were built without the premium seating but was either expanded and/or retrofitted to include that feature, whatever money couldn't be made from that simply was created by stadium advertisement inside the facility. When that option was exhausted, the majority of owners either wanted a new stadium all-together or had to relocate.

Age and concourse anminities of a stadium also has a HUGE part in whether a stadium also plays a role in the fan experience.

I never attempted to "compare" baseball to football, I simply cited the Braves as an example.

You cite their situation as an example but you're not comparing them? Ok.

I cited The Braves situation as an example of a trend of some sports teams situations.

I never compared their tenant stadium lease agreement situations.

Big difference.
