And while Luck in his second year was way down on turnovers, Bortles will be slightly down, and probably won't regress as hard as Luck has.

 

Bridgewater had almost 1 int for every game in his first season and while he has cut down on turnovers and his comp % is high, it is because they are playing coddle the QB offense, leaning hard on AP and the strong D. But continue to ignore that Minny has a game manager you're trying to prop up.

 

As for the two rookies.... well after about half a season you are ready to annoit them better than Bortles and that just shows to your true trollerific self.

But I'll say it again:  BB5 is asked to do more.  He just is.

 

He throws the ball 10 more times per game...  Because he has to...  The O-line for the Jaguars is less special that the tacks.  It's just a fact.  The tacks have a better run game, than ours.  BB5 has been sacked 25 times.  And if you actually watch the Jaguars play, he's forced out of the pocket a ton.

 

MM, on the other hand, is asked to throw quick outs.  He's a one read pony, and isn't hurried or sacked as often because he's not asked to push the ball down the field.  I mean, it's fun to look at numbers, but it's important to watch the games.  It's clear that some folks aren't watching BB5 actually play.  

 

The tacks have a higher YAC than the jags.  Those are also facts.   "Oh look how awesome BB5's WRs are".  LOL are you kidding me?  Uh. two 2nd year players that were not on anybody's radar are having great years BECAUSE of BB5...  LOL, how pathetic of an argument is that???  LOL

Unless you think the likes of Anthony Fasano, Craig Stevens, and Antonio Andrews are dynamic playmakers who are carrying him (those were his key receivers in the comeback win). Rodgers, Brees, and Brady are among the league leaders in having their yards from YAC, and its part of the reason they have been so successful. Look at the history of successful NFL QBs and you will see high efficiency via short/intermediate throws and YAC  with no turnovers wins games in this league.

Comparing rookie seasons its not even close, you have to go into Bortles' 2nd season to even make the comparison respectable. Bortles has struggled against good defenses too, take away his two best games (against awful defenses) and his numbers are pretty bad too.

Granted the Jaguars OL may be a little better at pass blocking, but the Titans OL is far better at run blocking allowing them to boast an effective running game which in turn let's Marota throw when has to verses practically all the time like Bortles does. Also, since Mariota can't throw accurately downfield if his life depended on it, he not only takes advantage of an effective run game and play action, but his field of vision is limited to what's right in front of him. This allows Mariota to maintain a far high completion percentage which directly results in the higher YPA. The stats make it look closer than it really is, and Mariota is even more prone to fumbles and INTs than Bortles especially with that incredibly low dart-like trajectory of his.

Do you realize how obviously false this is? The Titans running game is a joke and Mariota has struggled in play action more than anything else. If you don't watch the games or do not know to accurately interpret stats I don't know what to tell you. At least try to provide some evidence or justification for your point.

Except he has already exceeded his TD totals and has been nowhere near as inaccurate and turnover prone. Outside of the Dolphins game where he was severely injured, he hasn't had any problems turning the ball over. He's been great at that, despite being a rookie. I'm eager to see how he finishes the season compared to Bortles, I think the numbers will be even better than they are now in favor of Mariota as he continues to adjust to the NFL and gets his best WR healthy.

I like Blake, and I'm excited for the future with him as our QB.

 

With Blake, the Jags move the ball. They sustain long drives. Before, if you were at the stadium, and the offense was on the field, you couldn't even take two sips of your beer before the punting team came on. Those of us who have followed the team for years have noticed the difference. The national media has too.

 

And as a Jags fan, you don't just get Blake. You get Hurns and A-Rob too. The A-Team has a synergy with their QB. I pray that somehow Lee can join that tandem, but that may be asking for too much.
