Quote:The point is that wins aren't going to happen, they're barely happening when we're playing awful teams. If you want to keep winning 4 or 5 games a year then stick with what you're doing, ie just enough to say "We're really close to being where we want to be." No we aren't, and we won't get there with Bradley.

The wins are starting to happen now, so you better come up with a new standard to keep this agenda up.  This thread isn't about Gus, by the way.  Keep that in mind as you try to derail it.

Quote:I hate such threads, when the QB runs into a defender. All he has to do is tackle the QB for a sack and he got that barely.  Getting one sack that comes on your way and making it barely, does not make you a good player.

One thing I give credit from Branch is he puts some good hit on the QB.

Now Let us crown Branch for HOF.  Come on!
Who is saying any such thing?

He had a good game.  They're few and far between for him.

Celebrating Branch for his game winning sack is the same as celebrating Bradley for his 9th win in 3 years. Tomorrow he goes back to being a waste of roster space.

But we're making progress on the field and in the wins column too. We're 4-6 which is the best record we've had at this time of the year since 2010. Every game bar the Pats game has been a close one. We've gone form getting blown out every week to barely losing to now barely winning.

The progress is clear to see...

Good point. No need to celebrate people when they do well. You're so smart!

You're right, as long as we get to play 2 win teams I think we can at least win half our games. But does that advance the organization?

Far better to be so enlightened and miserable like you, right?

The turnaround has to start somewhere.  A year ago, we couldn't count on wins like this, especially coming from behind.  The team is learning how to win these games.  That's the beginning.  I'm sure there are plenty of threads where you can infect them with your trail of tears and your agenda. I suggest you find one, or start one of your own whining about the head coach needing to be fired. That will be unique.

We can only beat the teams that are on the schedule.

So now you are blaming the Jaguars for other teams being bad?

Last I checked Pittsburgh didn't beat 2 win Baltimore.

Last I checked, Jacksonville beat 5 win Buffalo and 4 win Miami.

Are we the 1985 Bears?  No.

But it is looking like we will have our best season in a long time, no matter how mediocre it may seem, and we are December relevant

I'm not miserable, it's nice to win. I don't believe this is a long term thing with the current head coach, that's all.

If we're winning in spite of him now, why couldn't we do it when our players are better, faster, stronger, more mature?

I has a confused.

Is that really what you want? To waste good players' careers with poor coaching? To continually have to overcome the bad coaching to claw your way up to average? I don't get that mind set, especially when it really looks like we have some guys who can be really special.

I hope so, too.

Believe me, I get your concerns about this team.

I believe if we did make the playoffs, we would get crushed-certainly by the divisional round if not Wild Card weekend.

But for now, I am happy still being in the picture in late November-Early December.

He had a good game. He was getting good penetration all night (giggity). He put a few licks on Mariota besides that last one.

I think the coaching blunders have been over-rated because we've been losing.

And we've been losing them so close that a ball-bounce the other way in many of those games... a flag or a call, or a kick or a replay away... and we're not putting Gus under the microscope.

His track record is awful. 11-30 or something...

But THIS year is the year to really look at. To see the improvement, not just in players but the coach. The players buy in... if you take away what they are buying into, don't you take away the good players?

They are winning dude. Close ugly games. No one should expect this team to blow out anyone this year. The coach can only do so much and he's doing it. He's getting this thing turned around his way. Sorry he isn't mad enough for you. He doesn't chastise people on the podium.

He might actually be a good coach that has some growing pains just like our QB, and young receivers...

He has switched coaching staffs before to make a chance on offense and it worked. Maybe he reassesses the D this offseason and makes some changes.

He is human. And a first time HC. And you want to get rid of him after he builds something up, that all these guys believe in, and you want some Barry Switzer mother trucker to roll thru and get the glory?

HA!

Hey remember when people said we got the wrong guy from Seattle and we shoulda got Quinn cuz he won right away with an already all-star ATL team? And then they lose like 4 of 5, and are dead last in the league in sacks..........

I don't care what he looks like on the podium, if he yells or not, if he's mad or not; those things are on the surface. What I want is a team that looks prepared to play with a solid game plan. Thus far this team doesn't do that and I'm not sure that Gus knows how to take that next step. The team plays hard for him even when they stink, and that is to his credit. I think we are very fortunate with the schedule this year and that the quality of the competition is hiding the warts on this team. I also think that most are happy to be average after the dumpster fire the last 8 years have been. How long will we be happy to be average if average is Gus's plateau as I believe it is? I was just as into the game last night as everyone else was, and I was happy that they won too. And then I remembered that we barely beat the tittians and that brings us back to reality.

So eat, drink and be merry; for tomorrow brings a new opportoonie.

I hate Gus Bradley's coaching.  HOWEVER, I am so happy with this win and all wins.  And if we continue winning at a pace that justifies Gus sticking around, pay the man.  The only reason I don't like him is because he never wins.  But if he starts winning, suddenly I will like him.

Funny how that works.

He played pretty well last night, can he keep that going? Who knows but I sure hope so.
