Here's an incident from 'soccer' here in the UK, when there's a foul and the ball doesn't go out of play you have a drop ball where a player from each team can compete for the bowl, what happens (it's not made to happen it's just sportsmanship) is the team who didn't have possession when the player went down goes for the drop ball unchallenged and just kicks it back to the team whom did have possession.


Now recently there was a game when it was 0-0 and this happened, the team in question I believe was one place above the relegation zone and they kicked it back but misjudged where the keeper was and the ball went in resulting in a goal.


Now did any rules say they couldn't score? No. Should the keeper of been in a better position to stop it even though he wasn't suspecting it? Yes.


Now despite this and despite the fact the team was close to being relegated they let the other team kick off walk through them unchallenged and score an open goal out of sportsmanship.


That is how sports should be played.


Benefitting directly from an injury, especially one involving a lifeless player is disgusting, going out of your way to challenge to try and benefit is much worse.

But to challenge that play when it ONLY would of been an interception because Hurns was injured and the ball stayed on his lifeless body is definitely classless. If say for example the defender knocked Hurns and the ball flew out and another guy caught it id be fine with that but due to the circumstances of Hurns trying to hold on and it just staying on his body due to him being Unconcious that is classless.

That could have been Rivers who threw the ball to one of his receivers and he got knocked out with the same scenario and I would have supported a coaches challange if it looked like one of our defenders got the int..

I don't know if it was classless. It was definitely stupid. He had plenty of time to see replays.

 

That is exactly what I was thinking. The Chargers had five minutes to watch replays - long enough to clearly see every angle. So if the ball hit the ground, they would have seen that and not challenged. I saw no indisputable visual evidence to call that an interception.

Maybe Bradley should have forfeited the game after Hurns got injured. It would have saved McCoy the need to challenge, since there wouldn't be a game still being played.

I don't have a problem with him wanting to challenge. Injuries happen and they suck, but he still wants to win the game. With that, I think it was a bad challenge to make because the call on the field was obvious.

San Diego showed 0 class in that challenge.  Hurns goes limp from hitting the ground while San Diego tries to benefit from it with that challenge. 

 

I'm not sure what class has to do with anything.  He waited until after the injury situation was cleared to challenge the play, and the challenge itself was worth a shot to end a potential scoring drive with the lead. 

 

Was it classless for the refs to resume the game post-injury?  Should they have simply suspended play to show respect for Hurns? 

 

Some of you desperately seek things to be angry about.  Not sure why you have this need to wallow in misery, but you're darn good at it.

It would have been classless had they thrown the challenge flag while Hurns was still on the field.  I can't believe some people are offended at this.  San Diego waited until Hurns was off the field to challenge it.  Not sure what people would want them to do?
