 The way this season is going,  it's almost hard to believe that many people around this time last year understandably thought the Texans and Falcons would reach Super Bowl 47.   What a difference a year makes!

Dropping below #2 is OK as long as no other team before us needs a quarterback. The Falcons definitely would not pick a quarterback and maybe the Buccaneers are happy with Mike Glennon so we may be able to pick a quarterback at #3. But I know the chances of that happening are between slim and none with the Buccaneers already having three wins.

 With the demand for high caliber QB prospects being greater than the supply,  it's likely that the trade cost of moving up into a top 2 spot to draft a QB is going to be high.   One team that I can envision making a bold move to trade up is the Browns,  being that they have the draft chips ( picks ) to pay a high price.

What makes you think anyone is saying that? Matt Ryan has consistently taken the Falcons to the playoffs and last year they were the NFC's #1 seed. This season, Julio Jones is on injured reserve, Roddy White also missed a few games, and the defense sucked at Tampa Bay. You can't blame Matt Ryan for any of their losses.

 

The Falcons certainly woiuld not be stupid to pick a quarterback later in the draft to provide depth at the position, but there is no reason to do that in the first round.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

The Browns have been picking quarterbacks for years. They can't seem to figure out how to pick a franchise quarterback. Colt McCoy? Gone. Brandon Weedon? Demoted. Brian Hoyer tore his ACL. I don't think any quarterback can succeed long-term in Cleveland because none of them ever did. But they certainly have enough picks to trade up to #1 if they want to try again.

OK here is a question for everyone: Do you think the tie yesterday helped, hurt, or did not affect the Jaguars? It means the Vikings are a half game better than the Jaguars, Texans, and Falcons and a half game worse than the Buccaneers.

 

We also need to root for the Redskins tonight because they have only three wins, one more than us and the same number as the Buccaneers.

Yeah, because of the way the NFL treats ties (.5 win, .5 loss), the vikings win percentage for the year goes up with the tie. In essence, they are now a half game "behind" in the race for #1 overall.

Depends on if Aaron Rodgers is ready to go or not. The Pack is nothing without him, and hes been banging the back by Thanksgiving drum, so we'll see.

  Granted,  in recent years, no QB has succeeded with the Browns over an extended period of time.   But that's certainly not the case in their overall history.    Arguably, the most successful QB of all time was former Browns QB Otto Graham.   I'm 99.999999% sure that no QB from this point forward is going to match the team accomplished Otto Graham helped lead the Browns to.  In all 10 of Graham's seasons,  the Browns played in the League Championship game of their respective league!   The first 4 years were in the old AAFC.   The final 6 seasons were in the NFL.   In total,  the Browns under Graham won 7 League Championships,  3 coming in the NFL.    

 

The reasons why the Browns haven't had a true winning caliber QB since coming back into the NFL in 1999 probably are a combination of the following:

 

1)   The QB had limited ability

2 )  The talent around him wasn't good enough.

3 )  The near constant changing of coaches and Offensive Systems.

Being totally objective,  I truly believe that the winner of the Packers-Lions game on Thanksgiving Day will win the NFC North.   I consider this a toss up game.  If the Packers win this game and get Aaron Rodgers back in December,  it wouldn't surprise me if they run the table.    If the Lions win this game,  it could realistically take 3 more wins in December to wrap up the division.

Bernie Kosar also had some success, playing in  two consecutive AFC Championship games. Cleveland was the Super Bowl favorite both seasons.

 

But nothing matters now except the Browns need hellp at too many positions to only want a quarterback. I think they would have a better record if Brian Hoyer had not torn his ACL. We will find out in a few days how bad they are and what positions they should look at next year.
