"To be honest with you, we tried everything"

Quote:Odrick...a DL was hustling to chase. Telvin sprinted downfield despite there being a Titan player in front of him who could have blocked him. Evans was after the play. Gratz was just typical Gratz and took the wrong angle. Cyprien is chasing from the backside. The only one who looked "slow" was Colvin, who was on the other side of the field. Yet you find this clip to indict the coaching staff? The one that stood out to me in that video was Gratz. He could have got him had he taken a better angle. The angle he took was horrible. This is an 8 win team if any one as good or better than Mike Mularkey were in charge.
“An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
The tacks will become good again, but this time we'll be way better. Our offense is miles ahead of theirs, and there's a reason why they're ranked 30th. Our defense is filled with a bunch of bums that can't play at a consistent level and rarely do anything right.
Next years defense: Dante Fowler Jr. Sen'Derrick Marks Roy Miller Jared Odrick Aaron Colvin Telvin Smith Davon House Hargreaves/Ramsey/Bosa Drafted Pass Rusher Drafted Pass Rusher FA/Drafted Linebacker(s) FA Pass Rusher (Von Miller maybe) Eric Berry/Gipson/Weddle (we have to get one of them) If our picks aren't failures we can take this division easily. I'm hoping we get some key veterans for this defense. More players like House that know what they're doing and won't be out of position on every play. Quote:Your are comparing the Jags defense to the #1 and #7 defenses in the NFL. I'm just saying our personnel is better than 30th. And San Diego is a bit of an outlier. The Jags defense just gave up four TDs to the 2-9 tacks. In any case, I don't think playing a soft zone and letting their best receiver Gates catch two TD passes in two minutes was anything but a coaching failure.Actually I'm just talking about pass rushers for the purposes of that comparison. I think with good coaching, the defense would be respectable with a pass rusher or two. If we got another pass rusher to pair with a healthy Fowler, another DT, another LB or two and a S, then the defense would be complete and approach dominance-assuming good coaching. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
When you have no answer or think you've done everything, it's time to quit. What happened to getting better? Where's the ownership? That quote better be way out of context, otherwise he's admitting he can't get better. Gus needs to have some humblepie, because he needs to learn to adapt and overcome

Gus should have realized that in the preseason and adjusted the defensive scheme. Why didn't he? I'm not banging the fire Caldwell drum anymore seeing the progress on offense gives me hope for now. But the defensive woes are on both Caldwell and Gus they can't just change the defensive scheme when we've brought in players for a hybrid defense for three years. We don't have the line to play 4-3 the linebackers to play 3-4 we don't have the safeties to play cover 2 so what shceme is going to solve our lack of pass rush and swiss cheese secondary? I just don't see what any coach could do with our defense its below average across the board and in the NFL that gets you killed. Quote:We also don't have the line to play 3-4 effectively, either. Lol we just don't have the defensive personel to play any scheme I think we all agree on that
Quote:That was a quote from Gus Bradley, talking about the defense after yesterday's loss to the tacks. So basically Gus was saying he was out coached and out schemed by none other then Mike Mularkey (who he just beat a couple of weeks ago) and his 2-9 tacks, who had not won a home game since the last time Gus Bradley and the Jags were in town, and with a rookie QB? Does that about sum it up or am I missing something?
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Scobee was rather shaky as a rookie, i remember him missing chip shots and other easy makes early on in his career. Myers has leg and can hit from distance, he's a rookie and still has nerves. let him settle down and work on it, we could make out like bandits on the kid if he can get a rhythm down going into next season. I know. We see him reach his 5th PAT missed and it's like, "How can we keep this guy?" It's hard to cut him much more of a break even though his actual FG numbers are not that bad. That said, I noticed that Myers is only one of three Ks over the past two weeks to miss two FGs in one game. I was watching the Chiefs-Raiders game, and at one point the score was 20-20 because both teams missed a PAT, and then soon after the Chiefs Kicker missed a second PAT. It's unreal how many PATs Myers as missed, but it's just as unreal how many Kickers leaguewide have missed PATs since they moved it back. I'd like to see Myers competing next year for the spot, and I'm hoping this offseason he spends a considerable amount of time making sure that FGs from 33 yards out are automatic. If he can do that, we'll have a good kicker on our hands because he's already one of the best over 50.

Quote:Lol we just don't have the defensive personel to play any scheme I think we all agree on that Do you think Gratz, Cyprien, Evans, and Bennett would have failed to develop under Belichick? How good would Colvin and McCray be? Would McCray and Davis be on the bench? This team would be at least 6-6 with better defensive coaching. Blitzing Hoyer on 3rd down would have won the Texans game. Why is McCray on the bench? Why is Davis not starting? Why was Chris Smith inactive yesterday? "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" Quote:Do you think Gratz, Cyprien, Evans, and Bennett would have failed to develop under Belichick? How good would Colvin and McCray be? With identical coaching, this team would at least be 6-6 with better special teams play. AAARRRGGHHHH!!!! Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Again some here are seriously reading words into what Gus was saying. He merely meant that they used their entire bag of tricks to try and get to Mariota with their pass rush. It was a very specific reference being taken way out of context, and it had nothing to do with Mularkey.

Quote:Eric Berry/Gipson/Weddle (we have to get one of them) We need to keep thinking young so the team is a force with the same players for a long time. Weddle is starting to develop injury concerns having been shopped by the Chargers earlier this year with a groin, and he's already 30.

Quote:This is an 8 win team if any one as good or better than Mike Mularkey were in charge. Not even. Maybe with Belichick in charge, but under Mularkey we wouldn't even be in games like we have been. We'd be lucky to have a win. At least Gus can motivate his players and knows how to hold a press conference without putting viewers to sleep.

Quote:Okay how is one draft, free agents and some rookie free agents going to wave a magic wand over a bland defense that is predicated on players being athletic. I'm fairly confident the front office is going to give him another year and we will see how it plays out. The defense has regressed from year one of his tenure to today. With a better offense how is that possible? Oh right we are scoring too quickly. If one year's worth of drafts, free agents and rookie free agents doesn't do anything, what does 3 do ? Some of you are so scared of change that you're content being losers.
Bradley has had plenty of chances this year to win so many winnable games. We have been in ever game but 1. 4-7 in those 11 games. Bonehead mistakes have cost us games. You know why some bonehead plays are being made? We are not prepared to play. When a coach says "I don't know how to fix it" why should we keep them?! Isn't the job of a head coach to find out how to fix problems and put players in the best spot to succeed? Quote:Some of you are so scared of change that you're content being losers.Yes, this is all true, but as the saying goes you can't make chicken salad out of chicken excrement - there's that too. Sometimes the players just stink and no amount of scheming will work. Quote:Yes, this is all true, but as the saying goes you can't make chicken salad out of chicken excrement - there's that too. A good coach gets the most out of the players he has. The Bears seem to be playing at least average on defense and they have less than or equal talent to us. |
