Gloves on quarterbacks
|
Before every snap, Peyton Manning tightened his right glove. Michele Tafoya explained he wanted it to be as tight as possible for a better grip on the ball. That made me wonder if he should have played with only one glove, which I have seen some quarterbacks do. But years ago Joe Theismann said during a game quarterbacks definitely should wear gloves, implying he had no problem wearing one on his right hand. Do you think quarterbacks should wear gloves on the throwing hand or not during games in freezing weather?

They should do whatever they feel comfortable with. Toward the end of his career Kurt Warner wore gloves on both hands and it worked out for him.

I'm not an NFL QB so I can't tell you. But if they feel more comfortable with it, great. I don't see there being a huge debate on this.its a matter of personal preference.
If Peyton likes putting ketchup on his French toast I wouldn't care. If that's what he likes so be it.
Yeah, the glove debate is all personal prefrence. Peyton doesnt usually like to wear them because he prefers to feel the ball when he throws it, but in weather like they had in NE Sunday night, he was either going to wear the gloves or have numb hands from the cold wind.

Nah, most QBs prefer to feel the ball directly with their fingers as it gives them a finer control on their throwing technique, so not wearing a glove on the throwing hand is common if they can get away with it. When the wind gets whippy though, you have to wear them or risk losing feeling completely, and then your accuracy would be completely gone. In theory anyways. Kurt Warner proffesses to falling in love with throwing with gloves late in his career.
Do you think the glove on his right hand contributed to choking in the second half?

Thats wrong because you don't put ketchup on French Toast, you put it on hamburgers. (....am I doing this right?) ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Aren't feet just like hands and therefore some QB's just feel the love for those hands and can't 'put a glove on it'? Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! Quote:Peyton must store oxygen in that forehead of his. No way I'd still be alive after all that choking. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! |
