The reaction to this story by the media is really funny to me since it's the polar opposite of what Tom Brady received for deflategate when it essentially boils down to the exact same thing; cheating.

All the same, while I'm completely against use of HGH by any player between July 1 and the day after the Super Bowl, if the drug aids in recovery or rehabilitation, why not allow its use during the offseason? I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on HGH, so if a regimen of shots in April can impact performance in September, then that's an obvious no-go, but if the effects won't carry over into training camp and beyond, allowing its use to speed recovery would make sense to me.

I don't think there is much evidence that HGH helps performance. It does seem to help recovery from injury. But if that's so why ban it? Vitamins and vitamin shots/supplements aren't banned, so why HGH?

Not to mention he came back and had 2 of his greatest seasons ever, one of which was his best year as a pro (2013). 

 

This reminds me of Roger Clemons.  Remember he had that one year when he was over 40 when he had an ERA of less than 2?  Come on, something isn't right.

Al Jazeera did very little research and their case is shaky at best when it comes to Manning.

Well, ya this is professional sports. Guys take stuff. It happens. I dont really care to judge Peyton Manning over this. The guy's neck was messed up.  I dont have a problem with him using something to heal up and prolong his career.

I'm not going to try and justify their record overseas, because there's no defending it. AJAM, however, is at least as good as any other cable "news" outlet in the US in terms of accuracy, maybe even a little better in terms of not spinning every single story. Manning more or less confirmed the report with his remark that what his wife does is her business, which is an implicit acknowledgement that HGH shipments arrived at his house.

 

Again, I don't particularly care about athletes using HGH during the offseason to heal. If they know the risks beforehand and choose to go ahead with the treatment, that's their call. A shot in April isn't going to give you a 'roid rage superpower in September.
