Not really. It can be reasonably argued Kelly's system is not a good fit for the NFL.

Quote:Should have beaten the Panthers? Really? You mean the team that is 14-1?

Hoping is one thing. Expecting is another.

Otherwise, you're right on.
I know, right? But, that game was completely winable. They looked awful once Kuechly went down. We just couldn't get the offense rolling. If you would've told me that at the end of week 16 they would be 14-1, I would've laughed.

It can also be reasonably argued that his personnel moves were horrible.  His offense was productive from day one, but then he decided to switch QBs and do other crazy things with the roster.

I somewhat agree. He signs Demarco Murray, a prototypical pro-style running back, and tries to play him like a scat back in the shotgun. To me, that shows both narrow-mindedness and stubborness. If Kelly wants to succeed in the NFL, he has to be willing to adjust to his players.

Gus staying and Kelly going - neither should be a surprise.

If you didn't see a Jim Harbaugh-esque breakup being inevitable, then you weren't paying attention.

Or, maybe just drinking the "Chip Juice."

He made his bed when he made all the stupid personnel moves.  "Genius" was proven the opposite.  The only way he was going to keep his job after that was if by some miracle it all somehow worked out well (defying all logic) and there ended up being a method to explain the madness.

But in the end, reality came crashing down and his method was proven to be merely madness.

Oversimplification. Chip Kelly knows offense. The Eagles made the mistake of thinking he was qualified to run eberything even though he had 0 experience making those decisions.

On the other hand, he does have a long track record of success calling an offense. He is good at that. Give him Mariota and a few weapons and he can get something out of it.

I know the day after getting fired the narrative is that he's worthless and all that, but give it a year and he will likely have more success.

No, not oversimplification.

Just truth.  His player moves proved it.  Same coach, different players.  Worse result.

Laughable. Shame we didn't have the Chip Kelly Ryan Mallet dream team...

So hopefully we will not have to see that meaningless "time between plays" clock next season.

The fact that he had the perfect back for his system in Shady McCoy but trades him away citing monetary reasons then proceeds to sign Murray and Matthews to exorbitant contracts makes me question his football intelligence.

I'm fearful of what he could do with Mariota.

No its not oversimplification.

If he knows offense that don't mean squat if players can't play.

I'm not terribly scared of it. He's just another spread option coach who's failing at the NFL level.

I hope Tennessee hires him too. Worst case scenario it works out for them and the division would be fun again if the Jags can fix the defense and colts bounce back and Texans get a QB. Could go from worst division to one of the best. Hopefully the Jags will be on the top.

You don't think that blowing up the locker room and basically destroying morale didn't have something to do with the utter collapse?

They still had sproles as the scat back, and they miss utilized Murray.

The changes in personnel were not as drastic as the collapse.

Clearly the coach had an adverse affect on that locker room.

Coaching matters.

Chip Kelly is pretty obviously a terrible coach at this level. I welcome him with open arms to the AFC South.
