Quote:This team can't rush the passer. Shhhhhhhhhh Stop saying that! It's verboten! Heil Bradley!!! Quote:It seems like every post I read about our defense, guys are saying we can't bring down the QB.Do you even watch the games to see how much time QBs have in the pocket against the Jag pass rush most of the time? There's a reason teams don't get too worried about 3rd and forever situations because they know the QB can stand back there forever waiting for someone to get open, and while doing so, they can have some lunch, book a vacation, and make adjustments to their fantasy rosters. Putting so much emphasis on sacks instead of looking at consistent pressure, containing the QB, and stopping the running game is pretty narrow minded. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

This team can't rush the passer. It can't cover downfield either. It can do neither. It's hard to pick through the trash, but in my opinion, the secondary is worse than the pass rush. It makes no difference though because they are both that bad.
Guys I need to clean up my post from earlier.
It was based on sacks. After reading every post afterwards I can understand how it is different from pressure on a consistent basis. We cool? Quote:The op has a very myopic view of getting pressure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMq4wKl3xl8

IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
It's about the constant pressure that causes interceptions. Not Sacks. This is what we are missing.

Matt Ryan made throws under pressure, he sidestepped and found his man, that's what good QB's do. It's not all the rush, our secondary was frequently beat right off the line by premier receivers. Our LB's can't cover a dump pass to a RB, they are slow. Those are quick passes with 3 step drops and nobody is getting to the passer. So It's not either/ or, we need upgrades in both areas. Maybe everyone is sold on House, I am not at this point. Maybe next year he will be more comfortable in the system.

But we don't have anyone that is a sure-thing or even remotely reliable when they have even a decent chance at getting to the QB. Mediocre QBs sidestep our passrushers or simply out-muscle them. Quote:Maybe everyone is sold on House, I am not at this point. Maybe next year he will be more comfortable in the system. I'm sold on House as a #2 CB, however, I feel it's unrealistic to expect him to effectively cover an elite guy like Julius Jones or Hopkins without help.

Our sack numbers are somewhere around the middle of the league. The problem is our leading sacker is a DB and we do not get consistent pressure. I think the number of sacks can be deceiving, because frequently the opposing QB has 4+ seconds to throw. What we need to improve is every down pressure!!
Quote:This was based on sacks, just pointing out we do sack the QB more often than you think.No... you're not comprehending what was replied to you. The total amount of sacks we have don't reflect the average amount of pressure this team puts on opposing quarterbacks. I large amount of our total sack number was against two teams. Overall, the Jags have been very bad at getting to the quarterback.
Quote:Guys I need to clean up my post from earlier. It also fails to consider that the Seahawks are usually rushing 4. A good percentage of the Jaguars' sacks have been on blitzes. Less players in coverage, more vulnerable when the blitz doesn't get home, which if you've watched the games, happens much more often than not. |
