Does Washington have anything to play for? Everything I've heard is them resting their starters

 

 

The game won't effect their Playoffs status as they've clinched the #4 seed but won't get any higher. Have you really heard talk of them resting players? I'm starting to wonder if I should switch my pick to the Cowboys. If only their qb didn't stink so bad.

If we lose we're picking 6th or lower, based on SoS and record.

 

If we lose and San Fran, Dallas and San Diego lose we pick 6th. If one of them wins we pick 5th, if 2 of them wins we pick 4th and if all 3 of them win we pick 3rd as long as we lose. Anyone else doesn't matter right if we lose.

 

If we win and Miami and Baltimore win we pick 6th, if one of them loses we pick 7th, if they both lose and we win we pick 8th.

 

I can see San Fran at home beating the Rams with Gurley out. Dallas is playing a team that's presumably resting their starters, so that could be a win too. I can't see San Diego beating Denver with the possibility of Denver not making the playoffs if they lose.


 

Miami could win against a Patriots team that's been decimated with injuries, although the Pats are playing for a 1st round bye so they have incentive to not rest their remaining starters. It's highly unlikely that Baltimore wins against the Bengals.


 

Based on this the likely outcomes would be the Jags picking 4th if they lose, and 8th if they win. Of course that means that the Jags will pull off the upset this week and blow their shot at Jalen Ramsey.

I'd rather see the Jags win too. The Jags are 1-4 in their last 5 games. If they lose, finishing the season on a 3 game losing streak and going 1-5 in their last 6 games would be awful. Just get the win.


The draft will all work itself out. No reason to "tank" for anyone this year,, none at all IMO.

I do not want the Jaguars to lose a shot at getting Jaylen Ramsay. Add him, Janorris Jenkins or Trumaine Johnson and Vernon and the pass defense has immediately gone from abysmal to above average.

I am not a tank guy and I don't believe teams, let alone 54 individual professionals would ever purposely lose a game.

 

That being said, I will be absolutely fine if Blake throws for 400 yards and 5 TD's in a losing effort.

The players don't but I have a hard time believing that some of these coaching staffs are really 100% dedicated to winning games like these

Tanking is counter productive when you have a young team trying to figure out how to put a team away and win.

 

What would be the best thing for this franchise is to see Bortles and this offense lay into the texans starting with the very first drive and have a game where they put someone away without having so many mistakes that the other team can steal it from them.

 

Having this team figure out how to run this potent offense without shooting themselves in the foot is way more important than moving up a few positions in the draft.

 

And for the multiple players on our roster that we heavily rely on who haven't even played two full seasons worth of games, one game is extremely valuable and significant towards their learning what it takes to win consistently in this league.

 

With young players, even so called "meaningless games" have a significant impact.

...I think that is a true statement. That being the case, it probably would've been better if the Jags plane broke down on the runway at JIA and the team didn't show up for the game rather than go out there for the inevitable beat down that they received. Just as 'success breeds success', so also 'losing reinforces more losing'. The team was not in a position to be competitive with the tinhorns; we have virtually no defense, no running game to speak of, poor pass protection from our o-line, and a 'questionable' coaching staff': those factors stacked the odds against the Jags before we even set foot on the field. Even in a season when we had so many factors working in our favor due to other teams maladies, we only squeaked by in our few wins most of the time.

Yeah, if there's anything to this 'psychology thing', then the Jags probably shouldn't have even shown up in Houston.
