Derek Carr vs Teddy Bridgewater

How good is Boyd at reading defenses and seeing the field? Honest question.

Quote:<p class="bbc_indent" style="margin-left:40px;">I don't want either one of these QB's. I hope we do win enough games to get out of that number one slot. I'd rather see us take a WR like Mike Evans or OT Jake Matthews out of Texas A&M around that fourth or fifth slot. And then go QB in round two. Target a guy like either Zach Mettenberger or Tajh Boyd in RD2. And it's possible Boyd is there. Based on how most draftboards are looking right now. It's typically going like this.

<p class="bbc_indent" style="margin-left:40px;">1. Bridgewater

<p class="bbc_indent" style="margin-left:40px;">2. Mariota

<p class="bbc_indent" style="margin-left:40px;">3. Manziel

<p class="bbc_indent" style="margin-left:40px;">4. Hundley

<p class="bbc_indent" style="margin-left:40px;">5. Carr

<p class="bbc_indent" style="margin-left:40px;">I just really like Mettenberger and Boyd from this year's class. Both of them can get the football deep down the field and just seem to get things done.

While I like both Evans and Mathews, they are both more of a luxury pick for us. We will prob see what happens w Blackmon befote taking a first round WR and No way do we take Mathews after dumping Monroe and drafting Joeckel. He is a stud though.

After QB we need DE the most. If we miss out on Bridgewater then we should take Clowney or Barr and not think twice. I prefer Barr, but either would upgrade us.

You are dead on with the Qbs in the second that you mentioned...Between Mettenberger and Boyd, well Boyd is my second favorite QB in the draft and would love to get him in the second so I'd take him.

All that said, Bridgewater should still be on every ones Christmas list.

So would anyone actually take Derek Carr over Teddy Bridgewater if given the option? Given the thread title and all...

Carr is battling to be a top 3 QB taken. No GM is going to take him in the top half of the first. Someone might reach in the late first.

Who is the other qb because mariota is having another terrible game. Two Int already lol

Mariota wasn't declaring and I already said he was a scrub a long time ago unlike you casual prospect bandwagonners. Manziel will be reached for before the barely-fbs Fresno State qb.

There really is no competition here folks.

Derek Carr

70.3%, 4462 yards, 45 TDs, 5 Ints in 11 games.  He plays in a dink and dunk offense but he has the most completions in College Football that travel over 20 yards in the air.

Here are some of his game videos from Draft Breakdown.

http://draftbreakdown.com/players/derek-carr/

You can see he is only getting better every week.  He has great velocity and a tight spiral when making  intermediate and deep throws while showing great touch and accuracy on his long bombs.

Teddy Bridgewater

71.0%, 3268 yards, 25 TDs,3 Ints in 11 games.  He may play in a "Pro Offense", but it's a West Coast offense with a lot of short throws and Play Action.  If you watch his game film, 95% of his completions are throws that don't even pass the first down marker.  He doesn't elude the pass rush very well and isn't accurate at all on deep throws.

Carr just looks like a Franchise QB while Teddy looks like a Kenyan long distance runner.

Manziel is a JOKE!  That dude has a water pistol for an arm and is more like 5"10" 190lbs.  He will not be drafted before Carr.  Look at his videos, just about every throw is a wobbler and his deep ball is always short.  Evans has to bail him out all the time.  His teammates make him better, he doesn't make his team better.

Been into jungle cats crack stash I see.....Teddy will be 10 times the pro Carr will be. Crappy footwork and throwing off the back foot 70% of the time won't get it done in the NFL mr. Carr....does anyone else find it ironic this tool shows up right after heero is banned? Lol
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

LOL.

And your "analysis" would make at least some sense if Bridgewater's YPA wasn't markedly better than Carr's.

Caldwell should fire himself if he makes either pick and we are sitting at #4 or #5. Only feasible pick of the 2 is Matthews and even that would be bad IMO. We should pray that Barr or Bridgewater falls to #4 and if not trade back with a team that wants Matthews in the teens and then take Carr or Mettenberger with the pick and then take a DE or OLB at the top of round 2.

not great. defensive reads are questionable. decision making is pretty bad. boyd has relied a lot on his WR getting wide open or bailing him out with bad passes. he throws up a lot of deep down the field jump balls. ive seen him look pretty bad and still put up good numbers so it is deceiving.

is this Heero trying to undo his now racist reputation? teddy is going to be a pure stud. carr probably a career backup.

It would be interesting to see how peoples opinions on Carr would be changed if his last name wasnt Carr.
