Quote:You remember what happened to Gruden after the SB? His entire team collapsed. The Bucs fell off the face of the earth after that. Dungy should get credit for Gruden's SB ring. Gruden took Dungy's players and won three more games in the regular season, plus won the Superbowl. He never had a quality QB the whole time he was with Tampa, yet was 9-7 both of his last two seasons there even after most of the defense had since retired. The Bucs have had only one winning season since Gruden left. Look at this roster in his last season (9-7): http://www.pro-football-reference.com/te...roster.htm I think Gruden is the best available head coach. He would also love to coach in Florida with a real franchise QB, but Khan is stuck on stupid. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?"
Quote:To be fair, if you give Dungy credit for building Tampa Bay, you have to give Gruden credit for building the Oakland team he beat in the Super Bowl. That's fair, but it's also fair to realize that Oakland team also fell off the face of the earth. And I'm pretty sure, if memory serves correctly, that Oakland team that Gruden took to the SB was really a team that was carried by a really old QB that Gruden really didn't develop anyways. Gruden was a product of timing and luck, no of hard work and any specific genius as a head coach that he had. At least he's been smart enough to realize that and has not gotten back into coaching. I think he realizes more than most that he's a "Wizard of Oz" type coach that got lucky with smoke, mirrors, and curtains... That to me, was his true genius.

But the thing about Gruden was that he was supposed to be a developer of QBs... He never did develop any true QB. I think people give Gruden waaaay too much credit. I think it would be a blessing if the clots got Gruden. He'd completely ruin Luck beyond the damage that's already been done to that over-rated QB. What the hell are you talking about? Smoke and mirrors? Do you honestly think anyone can just 'luck' their way into a super bowl? How can you reasonably defend any of the claims you're making? FWIW, I read on PFT earlier that the tacks might keep Mularkey as coach because he would be easier to can if a new owner chose to do so. The article even went so far as to say that Mularkey went from "leaning out to leaning safe."
Needless to say, I hope it happens.

He's popular with the players, but he's not the answer. Would also mean bringing Webster back as GM. There will be a lot of pissed off fans in Nashville if either happens.

Quote:He's not coming back to coaching. You guys should know better by now, the coaching speculation and rumors are out of control and the end of week 17. Let the dust of the season settle. For once I agree with you. He's got a comfortable gig in the broadcasting booth

Lmao at saying Gruden was a product of timing and NOT hard work.
I would be weary of guys who had success in the NFL before it became the passing league it is now.

Interesting he didn't mention coming to TEN. I guess he doesn't think their QB is as good as others make them out to be.

To be fair Gruden has an unbelievable love affair with Luck. I think he would be disappointed by reality.
I wish we had some good timing and luck, and could be 9-7 with a untalented team, go to the superbowl and then fall off the face of the earth. We aren't on it to begin with. Atleast they went.
I would hate Gruden as a coach just because I hate hearing him talk on MNF. I also think he is overrated by many and He is pretty far removed from NFL coaching at this point. If we were to pluck a coach from the analyst crew I'd want Herm Edwards, he is just as removed from coaching as Gruden but I have always liked the work he has done.
Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17 2016 draft players I think will be good
His man crush on Andrew Luck might be the only thing strong enough to bring him out of the broadcast booth.

If Andrew Luck gets Gruden, the Jags will NEVER win the division again. Didn't Dungy build that Bucs team and then Gruden coached the super bowl year.
No Fun
Quote:Colts and Luck is about to get either Jon Gruden, Nick Saban or Sean Payton. Titans will get Chip Kelly.Gonna need to see a picture of that crystal ball you have.
