Irony can be pretty ironic sometimes.

This experiment needs to end. Get a good RB in free agency to pair with Yeldon. Jury is still out on Yeldon

That would be interesting.

Local guy and a Heisman winner.....might make me renew to see him run over teams here.

Him swapping out with TJ....Gray in while they rest.

Quote:I'll admit it. I had hope for Denard. After today? Goodbye

Gray has had 2 good runs the past weeks called back due to holds.

Joekel is getting abused by Watt/Mercilus. My goodness.

It was very hard to watch Blake take that kind of punishment especially after he had such a good season. If he had a better OLine he would've had a chance of being in the top 3 this year in Passing based on the way he played. When you are getting hit hard (whether or not it results in a sack) it starts to show on the following plays. Not that many QBs can take the kind of punishment he has taken these last two years & part of the reason is LT Luke Joeckel's poor performance. I know GM Dave Caldwell thinks he'll improve but as the GM he needs to bring in talent to compete with Luke for the starting role after a couple of years of failure.

Getting back to the OP thread topic, Denard Robinson has shown flashes of being a good change of pace RB (backup) but the constant drop passes & fumbles (especially at key times in games) has me shaking my head as to why he has so many chances. I feel bad for him because you can tell he's trying his hardest. If he stays around next year or if he doesnt either way I hope he works on protecting the ball & catching this offseason (maybe go to the same camp that AR15 went to, wouldn't hurt)!

I don't think he is going anywhere, he is too talented and too early in his development to give up on. The fumbling issues will be solved and when the line is fixed he will be better. The guy is on a cheap contract adds speed to the offense and a contributor on special teams. He is a 3rd string running back gadget player with a high end number two back ceiling.

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
 • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
 • Lattimore please, Lockdowns on both sides would be nice

There are plenty of other guys that are faster and more athletic that don't drop or fumble the ball as much. There will be competition brought in.

He sucks. His problems have been the same since he got here. While he has gotten better, it's too little too late. Doesn't hit the hole. Can't pass protect. Can't hold into the ball.

I'd be surprised to see him back next year.

there are 15 total RBs since 2009 with a faster 40 time than Denard

7 of which are within .03 seconds of him. You don't get rid of that kind of player you develop them.

He wasn't brought in to be the man he was brought into to become the man, He hit the hole better and read the lanes better this year, Their weren't as many holes and he still fumbles a bit. Id expect him to be better in the future.

STRENGTHS
Possesses elite change of direction, acceleration, and top-end speed.

for three years as a rotational back he has put up a 4.1 avg rush, 914 yards, 5 tds, 44 rec, 288 yards. Considering he got only 20 touches his first year thats pretty good for a late round qb conversion.

for comparison sake 2013-2015

Kniles Davis 3.3 avg rush 777 yards 11 tds rec 246 yards

Giovani Bernard 4.3 avg rush 2,105 12tds 1335 rec yards

Le'Veon Bell 4.3 avg rush 2777 19tds 1389 rec yards

Montee Ball 4.2 avg rush 731 5 tds 207 rec yards

Christine Michael 4.7 avg rush 497 yards 28 rec yards

Eddie Lacy 4.3 avg rush 3075 23 tds 872 rec yards

Johnathan Franklin career ending injury before that 107 yards

Marcus Lattimore career ending injury

That is every RB from that class drafted before Denard. Drob has outproduced all but 3 Lacy, Bell, GIovani

Bottom line you don't give up on him yet

As our RB, even as a back up, I've given up on him....

However... as a 3rd back, with his speed, put him on KR duties, I'm OK with him sticking around...

I don't want to see him carry the rock anymore.

I don't want to see him behind the line we played with this season but with some guys up there that can make holes absolutely. He will fix the fumbling issues and the drops.

That's just from the combine. You can easily double, if not triple, that number with players that either didn't go, didn't run, or weren't invited to the combine. Then you can add other players that timed the same or slower than Denard, but are certainly faster. And then there's players with similar speed that are overall just more athletic. He's not some special athlete. He's a very good athlete, but there are lots of them in the NFL. I can find a ton of wide receivers with better numbers, which was what most believed Denard was going to play originally. Corey Grant is faster and more athletic than Denard and you see what happened to him with one botched play. There are plenty of Corey Grants out there in the world if Denard doesn't learn to hold onto the ball.

Arguing that he's outproduced guys with career ending injuries and who have done nothing isn't saying much. You are ignoring that turnovers and drops are part of production. His numbers aren't nearly as shiny when you take that into consideration. Blake Bortles throwing 35+ touchdowns vs Tom Brady throwing 35+ touchdowns in a vacuum w/o looking at the turnover numbers might make you think Blake is an all pro.
