Could Bosa fall like Leonard Williams?

I think Leonard Williams falling to the Jets last year surprised a lot of people (including him probably!).

And I wonder if Bosa might make a similar fall. The Cowboys and Titans already have quality pass rushers and greater needs (QB and OL respectively)

The Browns need a QB

So that only leaves the Chargers with a real need for a DE and they could go in another direction.

Is that wishful thinking? Or could we end up landing the player we need most?

Eh I can see Dallas grabbing him if they think he's the best player. Hardy may not be back and is a knuckle head and Gregory did not do anything. They were middle of the road on their pass rush.

there is a good chance he does fall for the reasons you put out there. San Diego also has a couple good pass rushers already and might go in another direction.

I also dont think bosa is quite where his hype had him. If he falls to us, I really think we try to trade down to trade down to a team desperate for him and max out value.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

If he does fall, we should draft him. I want to have a stable of quality pass rushers like the Texans and the Giants from 07. A rotation of Fowler, Bosa, FA pickup, Odrik, and Marks could be nasty.

Any player can fall farther than expected. It happens every year. But something else that happens every year is teams trade up. Chances are someone who picks after us will call the Titans, Browns, or Chargers about picking Joey Bosa.

I'd be pretty surprised to see the chargers not draft Tunsil, and that's if the titans don't take him first.

I don't think we'd take him either so he could keep falling. Jags know how bad the pass rush is and won't bank on what other teams do before they pick to fix it. They're gonna go out and throw some money to Vernon or Curry in FA. They'll likely start and rotate with Fowler as he adjusts to the NFL. They'll pick up another rusher later on in the draft. They also know having Marks back to will help tremendously.

I see us going LB, CB or FS with our selection.

Or the surprise of a LT at #5.

I would be curious to dig up threads from early January last year related to the draft and see what the consensus picks were compared to where guys actually went.

Feels like so much changes between now and the draft.

Bosa is very talented.. My main question is if his head is in the game and he wants to be great. Seems like a knucklehead in a way.

The difference here is we know it's gotta be defense. So that narrows it down a lot along with the value of who you take in the top 5. The thing that will make everything unpredictable is obviously teams trading up. This year we might actually be in a prime spot to have some takers if another team wants Ramsey because Baltimore wants him too.

I'm looking at Lance Zeirlein's "draft needs" article about the 10 worst teams. Here are the top five:

1. Titans: OT, RB, S, ILB

2. Browns: QB, WR, DE, LB

3. Chargers: WR, QB, C, LB

4. Cowboys: QB, RB, DT, LB

5. CB, S, C, DT

So the Browns and Cowboys could beat us to Joey Bosa, but it is more likely we will miss out on our favorite linebacker.

It doesn't HAVE to be defense. If by some chance Leremy Turnsil is there for one reason or another and they have him highly graded, I think they have to take him.

Picking what we thought we HAD to is what got us in this mess in the first place.

Luke Joeckel was touted as the second coming even more as Tunsil .Also projected as the #1 pick. I don't think the era of taking tackles in the top 5 will last very long anymore. It's just so hard to project in the NFL because of these ridiculous college offenses.

Our best lineman are both 3rd round picks.

Joey Bosa is not the next Jadeveon Clowney. Except for a violation of team rules last year, he has been a good person and teammate at Ohio State.

Hopefully he falls that far back. No matter the reason for the fall, if Bosa is sitting there at 5, the Jags should immediately draft him. Absolutely.

Yup. There are always big changes in player predictions each year from early January to Draft Day. Bridgewater and Geno were "supposed" to be top 3 picks,, Lol.

You don't pick a left tackle at #5 when your top need is on defense. Leremy Tunsil may get very high grades, but none of that matters if we can get an elite defensive player because that is our top need this year.

What if the reason for the fall was a murder conviction?

Then you better hope 49ers, Buccaneers, and Giants don't trade up with Joey Bosa in mind. Defensive end is on their list of needs.
