The no tax is not entirely true. You do pay taxes on game day checks on the road if that state has taxes. Tennessee is 2500 flat rate.

Bill Walsh was great at knowing when to let FAs walk. He believed in paying for future, not past, performance. Time and time again he'd let the biggest name free agents walk only to see them go on to be mere shadows of who they were under him. My fear with Mario is that his time has come. I'd love to have the guy from two years ago, but is that who we'd be getting?

I don't know the chemistry of the locker room or that organization with what has gone down there the past few years, but I know before this year and this scheme he put up baller stats. If he quit anybody or anything, I'm guessing it's his coach.

I already mentioned that he would need to be bought into the Gus, the system and the new DC. So you're of the opinion he wouldn't be. You're allowed to just say that you know.

IIRC, this is the first time he's played on a team with a legitimate QB prospect.  Maybe that will help tip things in our favor.

Yes, there were anonymous sources on the Bills that allege he quit.

 

But the guys actually willing to put their name on record in association with Williams' effort are LB Preston Brown and CB Leodis McKelvin, and they defended Williams.

During his tenure with the 49ers, he acquired DE Fred Dean (29 the year he acquired him in 1981), LB Hacksaw Reynolds (34 when acquired in 1981), DL Manu Tuiasosopo (27 when acquired in 1984), RB Wendell Tyler (28 in 1983), TE Russ Francis (29 when acquired in 1982), and WR Wes Chandler (32 in 1988).

 

I DO understand the concern.  As a general rule, I would avoid the older vets.  But you can make the argument that the defense is in need of a talent and experience infusion.  The right mix could catapult this team into a winning record.

The NFL needs a guy named Hacksaw.

Yeah.  It seems like the nicknames were better back then.  "Night train"  "The Mad Stork."  "Mad Dog"  "The Assassin"  "Snake" "Mean Joe" Broadway Joe."  Even the defenses:  "Doomsday," "Steel Curtain," "Purple People Eaters," "Fearsome Foursome." (But I gotta say as modern nicknames go, the "Legion of Boom" would fit right in with those others).

 

 

 

As for Reynolds, he was a great player with a great nickname-though as a kid I hated him because of the teams he played for.
