Quote:Because they are at home? at home, higher seed, have all defensive starters back, the Seahawks already showed their hand to Vikings the last time. Falcons beat Panthers so its not a stretch to say Vikings can win this game. Seattle isnt getting home field and a bye week this time.
Quote:At home, higher seed, have all defensive starters back, the Seahawks already showed their hand to Vikings the last time. Didn't the Seahawks blow out the Vikings at Minnesota? The crazy thing is often the only loss for a 15-1 team is to a bad one, like Green Bay losing at Kansas City in 2010. History repeated itself.
Quote:Didn't the Seahawks blow out the Vikings at Minnesota? I explained that they are getting the defenders that werent in the first game, back for this one. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I explained that they are getting the defenders that weren't in the first game, back for this one. It will be interesting to see how much that helps Minnesota. Obviously you also have to consider Seattle's injury report.
Quote:Vikings Do you really think a 2nd year QB like TB will be able to defeat Pete Carroll, Russell Wilson and the Seahawks in his very first playoff game, even if they are at home? I know anything is possible, but even Vegas has the road Seahawks favored in this one. I'm not sure who the ice cold weather favors more in this game since both teams run the ball and play great defense. This is a very interesting playoff game for sure.
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
Quote:Update. Now GB has moved from a 1 point underdog or PK to a 1 point favorite or PK since I posted earlier this morning, so that means all 4 road teams are underdogs or at minimum (Wash) a PK. This is extraordinary! When the dust settles, I'll be very surprised if all 4 road teams end up winning this weekend. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
The weather obviously favors Minnesota. It never gets that cold in Seattle.
Quote:The NFL should move this game to a dome! Only kidding, sort of. I know we like to romanticize those Bud Grant games of yesteryear but come on, I want to see the best football possible - and you can't play your best football if you are worried about your fingers falling off your hand. Back when Bud Grant was the Vikings HC, the Vikings didn't have heaters on their sidelines. The adverse impact the cold had on the old L.A. Rams when they played in Minnesota during the playoffs was one of the key story lines. I think the Rams were beaten when they got off the bus. Regarding the Jaguars, during the mid 2000's, it seemed like the team was built for the cold and the elements. If I recall correctly, during the regular season game in Pittsburgh in 2007, the Jaguars had around a 20 play drive in the snow. Quote:Even with Green Bay's struggles, I think they win this one. One of the interesting angles of that game is whether the Redskins will be exposed against a team with a winning record or if they are a much better team now than they were earlier in the season. My hunch is the latter will prove to be the case, in that at the very least I think the Redskins will be in the thick of this contest against the Packers. Quote:Me too D6, me too. Absolutely, jagherd. This game is going to test the resolve of the Seahawks and Vikings. Trying to tackle Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch ( assuming he can get through the game ) is difficult under norm circumstances. It will be quite a test for both Defensive units. On the other hand, Peterson's fumbling issues could realistically become a major factor in this game. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Here's some of that Minnesota weather that you're talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhNlfWgA5LM The video reminds of the days when the Vikings had the best home field advantage in the NFL when winter weather arrived. One thing about Minnesota is because winters are often brutally cold and the winter weather season seems to last forever, Minnesotans appreciate late spring through early fall as much as any people in the United States. Quote: One of the interesting angles of that game is whether the Redskins will be exposed against a team with a winning record or if they are a much better team now than they were earlier in the season. My hunch is the latter will prove to be the case, in that at the very least I think the Redskins will be in the thick of this contest against the Packers. I love this time of year. Playoff football is the best. It will be an interesting game to watch. One team, the Redskins, I don't imagine many outside the organization thought would be where they are. The other team, the Packers, are struggling more than just about anyone thought they would be. I like Aaron Rodgers and would not mind a Packer victory but part of me enjoys seeing teams you wouldn't expect, new blood so to speak, advance. Quote:I don't understand why Minnesota would want an indoor stadium instead of an outdoor stadium; why not be strategic and have visitors play in freezing temperatures in front of a hostile home crowd? Seattle used to play in a dome, and they have clearly benefited more by playing outside in the Clink. From a Vikings team standpoint, the outdoor stadium makes the most sense because of what you expressed. Yet, from a revenue standpoint, the indoor stadium is worth much more to the Twin Cities area economy. Especially, since the new Vikings Stadium will be hosting a Super Bowl in a couple of years. Quote:The weather obviously favors Minnesota. It never gets that cold in Seattle. From what I gathered on a quick Google search, it has not been 0 degrees in Seattle since January 31st....1950. Wow. Even within the Redskins organization, I'm confident that there was major skepticism that the team could win the NFC East this season. Jay Gruden went from the hot seat to a serious NFL Coach of the Year candidate. Kirk Cousins went from being a backup QB to a likely lucrative contract as the Redskins QB of the Future. The torn ACL injury to Jordy Nelson has hurt the Packers more than I could have imagined. Opposing Defenses are now able to play tight coverage against the Packers, believing that their CBs won't get beat deep often. It also enables opposing Defenses to use an extra resource or two against the Packers running game. The Packers injury situation at LT certainly has hurt them as well. The current strength of the Packers is clearly their Defense, even with Aaron Rodgers on the other side of the ball. Quote:From what I gathered on a quick Google search, it has not been 0 degrees in Seattle since January 31st....1950. The Seahawks have played home games in snow, ice, wind, rain, and a combination of all of these elements. But certainly nothing close to the cold temp. and wind chill that awaits them in Minneapolis. Pete Carroll was on Bud Grant's final Vikings coaching staff. By then, the Vikes were playing in the Metrodome. But being that Carroll was on the team's coaching staff for several years more after Jerry Burns got a promotion to HC, Carroll knows as well as anyone what Minneapolis winters are like. The Seahawks will be as prepared as a team can be under the circumstances. Quote:Seattle isnt getting home field and a bye week this time. Seattle has won in the playoffs before while playing games on the road as a Wildcard. They nearly made it to the NFC Championship game in 2012 playing both playoff games on the road (won @ Wash,, lost 30-28 @ Atlanta). IIRC,, that game in Atlanta had some controversy in it that kept Seattle from winning the game (can't recall for sure,, but Seattle looked VERY good that day). Anyway,, to think Seattle cannot advance because they are not at home is a falsehood. They have been dominating on the road the last half of this season, blowing teams away (@Vikings, @Cardinals, @Ravens lol). At home, they have been losing games lately. Seattle is a definite threat in the playoffs, even on the road. This game should be very good though, considering the "weather factor" in Minnesota this weekend. |
