Jaylon Smith injured

Quote:That any GM is going to draft with his successor's best interest in mind. I didn't state that I would draft for the next guy. I'd draft with the organization's best interests in mind. Do people draft scared sometimes? Sure, we see it quite often but I like to think that I would be able to walk away from that draft with a clear conscience that I did what was best for EVERYONE involved.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Going back to Gurley, the Rams drafted Tre Mason in the 2nd round the year prior to taking Todd at number 10. Looks good now.
Like someone on the previous page said, Dave knows he's got another couple years here regardless, and rookies probably aren't going to be the difference between Gus being saved or fried. Quote:Scooby Wright is not a legitimate first-round talent. Yea I see he is projected 3rd round. No way
Jaylon might be the most intriguing person in this draft because people have no clue where he's gonna go.
Wouldn't shock me to see someone like Carolina, NE or Cincy take him in the first and let him sit for as long as needed We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Jaylon might be the most intriguing person in this draft because people have no clue where he's gonna go. Carolina is already loaded with young LBs and NE doesn't have a 1st round pick. Cincy could be a possibility. Still think if he is there in the 2nd, you have to take him.
I'm glad his injury wasn't as severe as it could have been. I'm also hoping he falls to the 3rd/4th so we can snag another steal pick.... Doubt it will happen, but crazier stuff has.
GO JAGS!!
Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!
Looks like scouts don't seem overly concerned with his injury.

I really like him as a player but at this point the jags should have Ramsey, vh3, and Mackenzie alexander ahead of Smith. I cant imagine all those guys will be gone by pick 5.

I think it has to be the right team to draft him high. Somebody that can afford to let him 'redshirt'. Just can't see that being the Jaguars.

I think the jaguars could, I just don't think they will with who else should be available around the same time he is.
he was an arguable choice with pick 5 before the injury. Quote:I think it has to be the right team to draft him high. Somebody that can afford to let him 'redshirt'. Just can't see that being the Jaguars.

They need somebody to step in and play. Yeah...sure, if he falls far enough...pull the trigger. But I don't see that happening either. What the hell, it's all speculation at this point anyway. ![]()
Gus will be sweating bullets if Dave picks players knowing they will be playing next season when Gus needs to win now.

Quote:Looks like scouts don't seem overly concerned with his injury. Everything is dependent on what the doctors say. If the report from the doctors is that they don't expect future issues from the injury the they refer back to the film which will be great for Smith.
"Sucess Is Not a Goal, It is a By-product"
He is def out of the first round. The team who drafts him has to pay him market value. And he is a huge risk. Some never return to pre-injury form.

Id expect him to still go in the first but again if he falls to the second or even the third man would love to take a risk.
I have never had a knee injury, so I don't know the protocol, but would doctors really approve this kind of weight this soon after an injury like that?

Quote:I have never had a knee injury, so I don't know the protocol, but would doctors really approve this kind of weight this soon after an injury like that? That's pretty promising. I was definitely worried about that knee but it sounds like he's on the right track. If we don't go Jack in Rd 1, and jaylon hangs around until Rd 2, it would be pretty hard to pass on him. He was my original pick at 5 overall before the injury.

Even with his recovery and being able to put that much weight up, it's almost a certainty he starts the year on IR. If it looks like he's guaranteed to recover 100% and it's not Marcus Lattimore 2.0, then I'm down to draft him. May be hard to drop a day 2 pick on him but I wouldn't hate it I suppose.
