Your top 3 free agent targets for Jaguars defense?

It's all about Bruce Irvin for me. If we land him and plug him in as the OTTO/occasional LEO, we've filled a major hole with a major player.
If by some miracle Danny Trevathan (LB) is available, he'd be high on my list, too. Depending on what happens with Cann (G/C), I'd like to see a mid-tier guy at the other position brought in to compete with Shatley and Bowanko for whichever job doesn't go to Cann. Mack is a colossal waste of money. Speaking of colossal wastes of money, don't touch Tashaun Gipson. He's a ballhawk, yeah, but he lacks speed and if he's caught out of position, forget it. Earl Thomas he ain't. Draft a safety, or at least draft a corner that can be converted over. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! I think he would, but at the same time her also would have a set amount he wouldnt go higher than. Probably more front loaded money in case he doesn't pan out like envisioned (Toby...Zane....shudder)

Quote:Just have Cann move to Center and go get a LGno problem with that if he is better at the postion than linder. he was the 3rd rated center out of high school
Linder is better than Cann at RG and with DC saying they might give Cann a shot at C makes me think thats what the plan is and to bring in a RG
Quote:Linder is better than Cann at RG and with DC saying they might give Cann a shot at C makes me think thats what the plan is and to bring in a RGThe quote was saying that "Cann at C is a possibility". I think (hope) that can be interpreted as a fallback option, not plan A.
1. Von Miller - Should be able to line him up virtually anywhere. Bring him in to mentor Fowler Jr. and also have an impact in the pass rushing department.
2. Bruce Irvin - Another player to compliment Miller and Fowler as he learns the ropes and recovers from his injury from last year slowly. I think this move potentially allows Telvin Smith to add around 10 more pounds to his frame and we can kick him inside to play MLB and replace Paul Poszluzny going forward. I think he's too fast and instinctive not to be playing the middle position. 3. Eric Weddle - We keep worrying about the safety position. Just get the old proven veteran already and be done with it. So effectively, you've added a veteran presence to your secondary. You've added two pass rushers that are interchangeable to compliment a returning Fowler and Marks from injury and you also may have the luxury of moving Telvin Smith inside who arguably is the most consistently dominant tackler and speedy player in your front seven. Then you have the draft to improve the defense even more by adding quality starters or depth in guys like Ramsey, Hargreaves, Bosa or Buckner. Which, IMHO. You can't go wrong with any of those four guys with the 5th overall pick. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I understand the call for Bruce Irvin, but how come when you watch a Seahawks game is name is called the least on defense. Avril, Bennett, Wagner, Sherman, Thomas, Chancoller, Lane...
I heard his name called once yesterday for striking a pose after someone else sacked Bridgewater. Maybe I am missing something but there is probably a reason he's not a huge priority for Seattle. Pass on Irvin. Lets draft a young LB instead.

1. Mario Williams
2. Alex Mack 3. Sean Smith/ Eric Weddle I named 4 because while I want Weddle, safety could be addressed very early in this draft, not sure if Weddle is needed, but I still named him as I think he's fantastic and would love him in JAX for a couple of seasons. If we pass on Weddle, maybe go get the tall lanky Sean Smith who would be a great scheme fit for Gus. We do have a need for another corner, House is good, but he needs someone opposite too him. Colvin is a nicklecorner, he is not good enough to be an outside corner, he was exposed several times this season. He's a good player, but not good enough to play outside. I hope they go for a pass rusher and Mario Williams tops my list. If there was ever a time to get a veteran in his prime that can come in and immediately make an impact, theres noone better than Mario Williams. Scheme fit, wants to be in a 4-3, in his prime, when his hands are on the ground as a 4-3 DE, he will get you double digit sacks. I would have zero problem paying that guy what he wants for 2 to 3 seasons. Mack I think will be here, Dave is a big fan and he wants to play for Jacksonville. If he opts out, I think the Jags will pursue him. We need better protection for Blake, and we need to run block better, Mack presents one of our biggest needs and hopefully, he can shore up that line.

I don't see any possible way we land Irvin AND Miller. I'd be more shocked at us landing both than I would at Miller actually hitting FA. We show less advertisements to registered users. 1) Tashaun Gipson
2) Bruce Irvin 3) Olivier Vernon Draft 1) VH3/Ramsey (If Ramsey is going to be the target, sign Norman/Trumaine Johnson if they are available instead of Gipson) 2) Shaq Lawson (Never have too many Pass Rushers) 3) Tretola - Arkansas (Kick Cann inside to C) Quote:I understand the call for Bruce Irvin, but how come when you watch a Seahawks game is name is called the least on defense. Irvin's main strengths, in his acquisition, are that he has 4 years experience in the Seahawk's (and Gus's) defensive scheme and he is a legitimate 4.5 guy to increase the speed. He would have virtually no learning curve. However, my only concern is that he has averaged 6 sacks and 23 tackles per year over the past 2 seasons. It's good, but not great, production at his spot in this scheme. I would love to see him in an ugly 2-tone helmet, but expectations need to be curtailed a little bit from the savior some envision.

He isn't going to be a savior for the pass rush, he would definitely be an asset however in rushing on 3rd downs. He is a good rusher when paired with someone good on the other side. I hear you, but keep in mind those sacks are coming on the strong side where he typically has a TE at least chipping him.
