VCU went into Murfreesboro last night and beat a MTSU team 62 - 56. The Blue Raiders were 57-8 at home over the past four seasons and they are definitely going to be a tough out this year, especially at home. VCU seems to be finding their way right now so it should be another fun ride. Can't wait to get you UNF guys up here in a few weeks!

Having one is one thing, knowing what to do with him is another. The Three-Point shot is such a huge factor in College Basketball now that not many teams are willing to devote the time, effort, and attention it takes to really integrating a big man into the Offense. That being said, I'm old school enough to believe that every basketball play should look to feed the ball down low first, then find the open shooter. But that's just dinosaur talk nowadays.

I'd be cool with just having a defensive anchor down low. Continue away with the 3 point shots just as long as you got a guy down low who can gobble up rebounds and block shots.

Can't wait to get the UNF folks up here in RVA for the UNF - VCU game on Dec 30th. The Will Wade era has started out on a "good" note, but they are about to get a for real test tonight versus a Radford team that just took down Georgetown in 2OT, then go to New York and play some combination of Duke, Georgetown, and Wisconsin.

What does RVA stand for? Richmond Virginia? I've seen a lot of people from Charlottesville, Staunton, Harrisonburg say they are from RVA but it seems too far away to be considered Richmond.

Yeah, it's just a different way to say/write Richmond. I always consider it to be akin to the "Duval" thing for Jacksonville.


Not sure why those other folks you talk to use it when they aren't from here though. Seems odd.

VCU hangs on and stages a nice little comeback of St. Joe's in Philadelphia last night. By the way, St. Joe's student section in that gym seemed rather ... lame from my point of view.

Kentucky has motivational problems. Not only do they lose to LSU, but they lose big. Bad, bad showing.

I'm glad to see there's no true #1 favorite to win the championship this year.  

There definitely is not. There aren't any teams out there so dominant that they will walk through and win. There are though several very, very good teams spread out around the country.

I saw this one big dude down at the Y that may be ok.  He calls a lot of fouls and takes cigarette breaks between games but the dude can post up pretty good when he's able to get down the court.

VCU played what might have been the strangest half of basketball I've ever seen this past Sunday. They scored the first 13 points of the game and St. Louis didn't score a Field Goal until there was 6:32 left in the First Half. However, since St. Louis shot 23 Free Throws in the half the Billikens only trailed 29-25 at halftime. VCU flexed it's muscles and pulled away in the Second, but that was a very odd half of basketball.

Kentucky was trying to lose again last night. Lots of good individual players but not solid team chemistry. I don't see them making it past the second round of the big dance.
