Mid-round prospects to keep an eye on
|
Who are some of the lesser talked about guys that you have your eye on?
Here's a few guys I like: Bronson Kaufusi - DE BYU 6'8" 280 55 tackles, 17 TFL, 11 sacks, 1 INT and 3 FF Will be a 25 year old rookie, which may hurt his stock a bit. Beau Sandland - TE Montana State 6'6" 255 Started off playing JUCO, then went to Miami, and then to Montana State. Put up gawdy numbers at lower levels of competition and looked and played like Gronk/Kelce-light. Could be another Zach Miller-like project. Rashard Robinson - CB 6'2"-6'3" 182 Was kicked off LSU for breaking into an apartment. Was highly recruited and looked the part his Freshman year with LSU. Depending on his maturity/off-the-field stuff, he could be a late round gamble. Has the skills/frame to be a shutdown corner. Anyone who has caught your eye? Nice list!
I'm keeping an eye on Brandon Shell - OT - South Carolina. He's 6'6, 334 lbs and has obviously faced some very good opponents in the SEC. Former teammate of AJ Cann so that's always a plus. I just think he's being overlooked (for now) because of how bad SC was this year. Perfect mid round LT to groom behind Joeckel.
Shock the world
Eric Murray CB 6'0" 200
Gritty corner with a well rounded skill set. Doesn't get much INTs but I think he is a very solid #2 in the NFL.
Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky - Spence very well could have been a 1st round selection if not for his off-the-field issues. He was very dominant at Eastern Kentucky; albeit it was against weaker competition. He racked up 52 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, and 8 sacks while at Ohio State.
Devontae Booker, RB, Utah - Granted, Booker will not be a mid-round prospect, he may be my favorite RB in this class. He could be a steal if still available in the 3rd. Deiondre' Hall, CB, Northern Iowa - 6'2", 190 lbs. Hall has excellent size and had 6 INTs as a senior, but didn't play top competition while at Northern Iowa. I am looking forward to seeing him at the Senior Bowl. Nate Sudfeld, QB, Indiana - 6'6", 240. Sudfeld could be a good QB to groom if taken in the 6th or 7th. As a senior, Sudfeld threw for 3573 yards, 27 TDS, and only 7 INTs.
New signature because HIGH SCORE found the periodic table offensive. Pathetic LOL

Shock the world
Keeping it to a few who I think may go in the 3rd-5th round range...
Harlan Miller, CB/Southeastern Louisiana DeAndre Houston-Carson, FS/William & Mary Vernon Butler, DT/Louisiana Tech Matt Judon, DE/Grand Valley State
Quote:What does being A.J. Cann's college teammate have to do with anything? At the very least, the team can get the inside scoop on the guy before they consider drafting him.
Quote:Keeping it to a few who I think may go in the 3rd-5th round range... Good call on Judon. My formula for fixing the pass rush would involve singing a FA, drafting a big end in the 2nd or 3rd, and then drafting a developmental guy in the later rounds to compete with Chris Smith for the last LEO spot. Judon seems like he would be perfect for that. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Keeping it to a few who I think may go in the 3rd-5th round range... Cool thread. And, yes I'd keep an eye on Houston-Carson. ^ A few I think may be on the Jags radar: K - Marshall Morgan (a late rounder - not mid - but worth a mention) OLB - Eric Striker - 3rd/4th rd. - He rushed the passer quite a bit in college. His speed may make him good depth at WLB behind Telvin in the short term. This pick makes sense in the 4th round for the Jags in my mind. Could be that hybrid nickel LB used on passing downs that's also a threat to blitz. OT - Tyler Johnstone - 6th rounder - again a late rounder, but if the Jags decide to find depth and competition at LT in the draft bargain bin... he might be the guy. FS/CB/KR - Daryl Worley - 5th/6th rd. - Interesting prospect that may add to the pool of young DBs in camp. Possible successor at FS if the team signs a vet for short-term.
DeAndre Houston-Carson, FS, William & Mary - If nothing else, will be a spectacular Special Teams player. Split the Defensive Player of the Year award in the CAA with Houston Ochi. Came in second in the League with four INTs and led his team with 68 Tackles. To me, he upgrades Sergio Brown.
Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky - I really don't think he's all that "mid-round" to be honest because he plays a key position and was an Ohio State player for a while. I think you'd have to take him in the Second but he might slip to the Third due to his drug issues. That being said, the guy has blown up at Eastern Kentucky and could probably contribute almost immediately on an NFL roster. Bronson Kaufusi, DE, BYU - This is really Odrick 2.0, but I like this guy. He's racked up some really nice stats even though he is a bit older. Braxton Miller, WR, Ohio State - I feel like he's going to go in the Fourth or later and that's just a ton of talent to pick up that late. He's going to need some work to get on the field and some imagination by the Staff to get him the ball, but he's a hell of a football player.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
Another one of those guys that will fall due to character issues, but has ability, is:
Devonte Fields, DE, Louisville, 6'4" 254- Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman in 2012 season. Left TCU after domestic violence charge and a foot injury curtailed him thereafter. Returned this past year to Lousiville and had 19.9 tackles for loss and 8 sacks. The team investigation and interviews would be interesting to be a fly on the wall.

I really like matakevich from temple. High motor guy, always in the play.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Quote:I really like matakevich from temple. High motor guy, always in the play. I used to really like Matakevich but the more film I watch, the less I like him. Against better competition, there were alot of times he couldn't get off blocks. He reminds me of a young Poz but just needs to show that he won't get washed out of plays. Quote:He just announced he is returning for his senior season. Definitely a guy to keep an eye on. You are right...just looked at the Louisville site. I did not know he had another year of eligibility, as he was 3 years removed from high school last year and almost declared then. We show less advertisements to registered users. Travin Dural - WR - LSU.
Being overlooked due to Leonard Fournette and Malachi Dupre but Dural has put up good numbers this year before his season was ended with injury. I know WR isn't a position of need but I really think Dural is an underrated prospect which we could potentially have In the 4th, he should be in my opinion a 2nd rounder but due to not getting the hype he could drop. HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-2 / 203 LBS. BS.[/size]
Austin Blythe - C/G - Iowa. 4 year starter on the line for the Hawkeyes. Has started at both G and C. Not huge so may need to be a C in the NFL. 1st team All Big10 this past year.
Tyler Ervin - RB - San Jose St. First team MWC. Not a huge guy but is versatile. Ran for a ton of yards. Decent receiver out of the backfield... would line him up at WR. Good return man. poor man's Christian McCaffrey. Small school stats but did run all over Auburn. his size will drop him to day 3 I bet. one more.... DJ Reader - DT - Clemson. 320 big man who is athletic. But not sure what his deal is. Was away from the team for awhile for "personal reasons". Drugs? Academics? who knows. But the guy is super athletic for his size. Played right away as a freshman. Was on the baseball team for awhile. Sounds like a natural athlete. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff. Quote:I really like matakevich from temple. High motor guy, always in the play. I really like him too. Saw Temple twice last year and bot times he stood out. Both times against tough competition. Saw a stat where he is only the 7th guy in the college history to have over 100 tackles all 4 years. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters.
