Should we move on from Bryan Anger?

No, Jason Meyers is the one that needs to be replaced.

Of all the priorities this team has this year, punter would be at the bottom of the list.

I agree it's way down the list of priorities, but since his contract is expiring the position has to be addressed.

Or we could just go for it in 4th down as Jagwired suggests. Smile

I think Anger does a fine job. As others have stated, very far down the list in regards to needs.

FWIW, Johnny O seems to think that Anger is probably not returning.

Holding Gene's stupidity against Anger is almost as dumb as drafting a punter in the third round was, but Anger's really just average. I doubt he's worth the contract he's looking for, nor do I think he's irreplaceable. If he returns on a low-dollar contract, fine, but we can do better.

I see him being retained. If nothing but to provide stability with an ongoing kicker situation. Don't wanna bad kicker and punter.

I'm all for upgrading Anger. He's not a very good punter. And it's not like it's going to take a 3rd round pick to replace him. We can get a good one in the 6th round, where we have an extra pick from the Scobee deal.

My point remains the same. There are much bigger issues. We can either re-sign him or find someone else. Im sure Punter is near the bottom of the pile of things Caldwell will be focused on.

Finding someone to do the job shouldn't be a big challenge.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

My thoughts exactly

I hate overpaying a punter...hopefully the Jags won't have too much use for one

We might be able to squeeze a 3rd rounder out of Pittsburgh after watching their punter today.

I agree, and I think the miserably failed Turk experiment adds value to Anger's services, but what are the odds of us letting Gene Smith find a punter that bad again? I mean, the dude was 47 years old when we signed him, I'm sure we could do better than that if Anger is looking to get overpaid.

Banger is good to decent.  One experiment in our kicking game at a time is about all I can handle.
