Second round pick

Are you criticizing me for doing the same thing other people do about the first round pick?

No, but you make this thread every year and every year it's the same deal. No one knows who will be available in the second round until the first round is over with. Some players will be in taken earlier than expected and some will fall farther than expected. It's entirely too early for this thread.

Is it too early to talk about trading down in the second round to get more picks?

Quote:Now time for the other question: Would you want Dave Caldwell to trade out of 38 in either direction?
I'd move up into the latter part of the first round if Jaylon Smith was there

I don't think Jaylon Smith will drop far enough. From 38 to 20-something (Bucky Brooks slotted Smith at 22) could be too expensive.

Agreed

Would depend on what the Jags would have to give up but I would at least inquire

I really hope Noah Spence drops to us in the 2nd round, we will be coaching him at the Senior bowl, I would even trade up back into the 1st round for him

We have had some success with getting players who were on our Senior Bowl team.

I would not trade up that high for him.

There's quite a few pass rushers who may be available early in the 2nd round - Bullard, Dodd, Ogbah, Calhoun, maybe even Nassib. Lots of guys seem to fit where we're picking so we have that going for us, which is nice. Dodd is my favourite from pure pass rush perspective, but he's rising quick and may be off the board.

Give me Bullard, please. He would be a Week 1 starter.

I agree with this, do the same in the first as well. Whoever they feel is the best player take.

I don't know much about him. Only watched a couple of games of him this year. Does he have the pass rush skills to make an impact in the pros, or is he more of a hold-the-point run stuffer?

Jonathan Bullard is one of the best run stuffers I have ever seen. If the quarterback tries to run a draw or sneak, he goes nowhere. Running backs also lose yards when he is on the field. And yes, he does sack quarterbacks.

I love Dodd, he's a guy that just jumps off the screen

Bullard not a pure pass rusher but would be great addition to the dline

Would you trade up to get Dodd if he drops into the 30s? He could be a first round pick.

That is the one problem I have with Bullard: we need a pure pass rusher at his position.

No I wouldnt trade up for Dodd, but I would for Spence since I view him as a top 10 talent

Noah Spence transferred to EKU because of drug issues during his time at Ohio State. There are red flags all over him. But I can't deny he is a great player on the field.
