Can we now say that Peyton Manning is the GOAT among QB's?

#21

He's a Clot, a jughead, and a Manning... but yeah, in my 20+ years of watching the NFL, I think Manning is one of the best that I have seen. Brady is the best, but Manning is right up there.

Montana

Brady

Elway

Favre

Marino

the guy failed with too many top level teams that were built specifically for him

every Qb who loses a Super Bowl or conference championship and wines and cries to the point rules are specifically changed for him... TWICE in his career ya they get penalized for that

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

Refresh my failing memory plz:

Is Manning the only QB to win a Superbowl with 2 different teams?

I know Kurt Warner made it to the Superbowl with 2 teams, but only won as a Ram.

Anyway, Manning is one of the best QBs of all time. There's not much doubt about that. But he's not the Greatest QB IMO. No.

Yes he's first, and yes, he's not the GOAT. I really appreciate Manning's respect for the game though, he seems like a guy who understands his place in the history of the game.

How many times did they have the game in hand and here comes the Pats AGAIN?   They could not put that game away.

You guys with your Brady love make me want to puke...

Brady, while good at times under pressure has always been a sudden qb.

Manning is top 3-5, I think. But I wouldn't put him as the GOAT.

Manning sucked this season.  Game manager, Garrardesque.  The defense carried that team.

"Brady Love"?

The dude has won 4 SBs and been to 6..... It's not love it's just a fact that he is the Montana of this generation.

Pretty much any QB hit and pressured as much as Brady was in that AFC Championship would have crumbled.

Manning probably would have been carried off on a stretcher at this point in his career.

Brady is one of the greatest to ever step on the field and I don't see how one could dispute that.

Now we get to suffer through will he retire nonsense.  To me the real fun would be him wanting to come back and the Broncos releasing him.  Won't that be exciting off season talk.

I think Manning's legacy is a bit tainted because his team's didn't win a Superb Owl while he was at his peak, much like Elway. Elway is considered a great QB and in his time was constantly touted as a premiere QB that couldn't win the big one.

Is Manning the Greatest? I don't know, and honestly I think it's just chasing the Dragon. What I do know is that he is really, really good. REALLY good. And that there are few people who could do what he does on a football field.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Lets just disqualify every QB and WR from the last 30 or so years from ever being considered GOATS of there positions. The game obviously has been altered way too much in their favor for them to be considered the GOATS.

Whenever anyone brings up the GOAT regarding NFL quarterbacks, I always think back to Bart Starr and Johnny Unitas.  They were superior at their position during a time when the NFL wasn't so "pass happy".

I'd pick Brady over Manning every time.

An interesting although futile question is how many Super Bowls would Manning have won with Belichick as his coach?

Whenever I see goat.... I think of scapegoat.  And yes Peyton is still the worst post season QB even with 2 subpar bowl wins.

I think the thing that hurts him most is that even though he has two SB victories, it's really difficult to say he was the reason they won either of them.

In the 2006 postseason, he averaged 258.5 YPG, 63.4 Completion %, 6.76 YPA and 3 TDs with 7 INTs.  His SB stat line - 247 Yards, 65.8%,  6.5 YPA with 1 TD and 1 INT and a fumble lost.

This years, 179.67 YPG, 55.4%, 5.86 YPA, 2 TDs and 1 INT.  SB - 141 Yards, 56.5%, 6.13 YPA with 1 INT.

Great regular seasons QB, just wasn't very good in the postseason, don't see how he could be ahead of Brady.

I respect what he was able to do and how he came back after the neck surgeries. (assuming the HGH stuff is false)

But - I still have a hard time putting him ahead of Brady or Montana.  Unitas is in the mix somewhere too.

One of the all time greats. Greatest?  Ehhh - close but no cigar.

Anyone else sick of the Papa John's commercial making Joe Montana look like a geriatric?  Joe is way way better than Peyton and Brady combined.  Yeah yeah yeah... different era's and no salary cap management sure.

He's no Garrard. I mean, Garrard made a Pro Bowl for goodness sake.
