Lets play a mock draft game

Here's a non-fanspeak, semi-realistic, pre combine- mock based on current rankings from three sources.  This mock assumes a pass rusher is signed in FA.

#5 - Myles Jack - LB

#38 - Darian Thompson - FS

#69 -  Kyler Fackrell - OTTO/LEO

#100 - Maurice Canady  - CB

#134 - Matt Ioannidis - DT

#163 - Pearce Slater - OT

# 183 - Yannick Ngakoue - OTTO/LEO

# 194 - Wendell Smallwood RB

Be honest, you made up the name "Wendell Smallwood" just to troll us, didn't you?

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Busted.

He and Pearce Slater are characters from a Zane Grey western I just read.

Sorry.

Here is my semi-realistic mock off-season.

FA:

Olivier Vernon LEO - Hits FA due to Miami's cap problems. Priority number 1 is to sign this guy to bolster the pass rush.

Reggie Nelson FS - Rumor is he would like to come back and still has his house here. Band aid to fix the FS problem.

Zach Brown OTTO - Fell out of favor with the tacks. Big guy who can fly (4.44 40) and had 5.5 sacks his rookie year.

Nolan Carroll CB - Local guy to add depth to the secondary

Draft:

1) Jalen Ramsey CB FSU - Drafted to play press corner similar to the SEA corners. Will move around in the nickel formation and possibly learn behind Nelson.

2) Jonathan Bullard DE UF - May not be around in the 2nd. Will rotate with Odrik at the big end to help generate pressure from the left side

3) Sebastian Tretola G ARK - 3rd year in a row Dave gets a stud G in the draft. Opens up the door to slide Cann over to Center

4) Javon Hargrave DT SCS - Small school guy who was a man amongst boys. Played well in both the East-West and Senior Bowl. Could eventually replace Roy Miller

5) Aaron Green RB TCU - His speed and agility add a dimension to the offense that is missing

6) Dadi Nichols LEO VT - Developmental LEO behind Vernon and Fowler

6) Pearce Slater OT SDSU - Massive RT to groom behind Parnell

7) Jake McGee TE UF - Another safety blanket from the TE spot. Has expressed interest in playing for Jax and Gus.

UDFA:

Ross Martin K Duke - Competition for Myers

Reggie Northrup WLB FSU - Local kid to compete to backup Telvin

I dont see any way Collins makes it to the 4th. My favorite RB in the draft behind Elliot. I dont want a rb that early but I think he is a 2nd round talent and if hes there you take him

Here's a challenge for someone....

Is it possible to get a high-quality pass rusher, a linebacker and a free safety in the draft?

Or are we realistically looking at two from that list and then depth players/prospects?

Reply

Heres another challenge for people.... try and do a mock draft without selecting Aguayo. I know its hard for some of you.

My pre free agency/combine mock draft. Quite tasty if I do say so myself.Bring in a FA free safety and a pass rusher or two and we'd be good to go.

Depends on your definition of "high quality", but, yes, you can get all three starting caliber players in the draft.  Using Draftsite.com as a quick source and example....  1. FS/CB Jalen Ramsey,  2. DE Shilique Calhoun or Jonathan Bullard,  3. LB Tyler Matakevich or Scooby Wright

There is just no way Spence falls to the second round. Unless of course he's an absolute moron in his interviews, but he doesn't seem that way at all. Quite genuine actually. You could tell Blackmon was an idiot in his first press conference.

Championship? I doubt spence falls, this far but he was there and I took him. Realistically I'd like to see the Jags nab one of the Dt's there or trade up in the back half off the 1st if Spence or Ogbah are still there.
