Wash: Fowler will not be in the same spot every down

Watched some youtube cutups of some of his games...

Against Tennessee he was a monster

Against LSU he disappears

Hope it's more of the former, less of the latter.

Quote:Nah, he has no explosion though

He sux

Quote:Plus he got whooped so bad he tore his ACL.

Bust.

Uh... are you guys joking, trolling or actually think this?

Fowler has one of the best 10-yard splits ever for a DE. This tells me all I need to know about his explosion.

The only chasm that cannot be crossed...

Sarcasm

Though watching his games against LSU and Alabama has me skeptical.

Short area speed =/= explosion. The jumping drills are measures of explosion.

No... jumping drills are more a measure of power.

NFL Combine Drills

Shuttle run
The short shuttle is the first of the cone drills. It is known as the 5-10-5. What it tests is the athlete's lateral quickness and explosion in short areas. The athlete starts in the three-point stance, explodse out 5 yards to his right, touches the line, goes back 10 yards to his left, left hand touches the line, pivot, and he turns 5 more yards and finishes.

<div>Vertical jump
The vertical jump is all about lower-body explosion and power. The athlete stands flat-footed and they measure his reach. It is important to accurately measure the reach, because the differential between the reach and the flag the athlete touches is his vertical jump measurement.

"power" and "explosion" are synonymous, powerful athletes are usually explosive athletes, and vice versa.

In case anyone is interested in Wash's comments in a sit-down with Oehser and Shadrick for a few days ago, link and paraphrased highlights here:

The explosion measured on a vert is about a player's ability to explode into a player opposite them along the OL. However, when talking about the explosiveness needed for a DE to get to a QB some 10 yards away, the 10-yard split is a far better measure.

Powerfully explosive or explosively powerful. But, lets quibble on the details. Can they play football?

What difference could that possibly make?

Better be careful. The Spider Chart gang is going to want you to join their club if you keep on throwing around terms like that.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Hehe. I just like to use "good bubble" as often as I can work it in as possible.

Some football guys are quite poetic. You should read up on the Delaware Wing T some time. You'd swear that whoever came up with some of those names were on a four week bender!

I'll just give you the benefit of the doubt and say "immediately".
