If the Jags are comfortable with his character- Noah Spence should be the pick at 5
|
According to this article he didn't have much interest at his pro day. At least not the sort of interest you'd expect, if he was going in the first round of the draft.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...oah-spence Maybe his character concerns drop him to the second round after all... We show less advertisements to registered users. Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
I have a friend who works for an NFL team. He was in the interview room when they had Spence in there. It didn't go well at all apparently.
Shock the world
I think he drops to the third. A first round talent would have coaches and GMs at their pro day. Would you take him in the third? Remember he failed 2 drug tests with Ohio.

I would trade up and take him in the late 1st if he falls, and Bosa is not the 1st pick.

That's serious information, backed by reliable sources right there.
After all, it made it to the internets.

Noah Spence ran a 4.75 at his pro day. At 251 pounds, that's not real good.
Add in the substance abuse and getting kicked out of the Big Ten, and I would say an emphatic NO at #5. Second round, I'd jump all over it, but not at 5th overall pick. The thing is, he might come in and be a good player, but can you trust him, especially after RJ Soward, Matt Jones, Justin Blackmon.

Yeah I was on board at #5 but since the combine I feel he's more of a late 1st/2nd round guy.

I'm starting to think the talk of Spence at the top end of the draft might have been just talk and that the people who really mattered (the GMs who stayed away from his pro day) never really saw him as that.
Maybe all the GMs didnt show up in hopes that Spence will drop to the 2nd or 3rd round to draft him at better value due to his past.
Northwest Jaguars fan from 95 til' !

Yeah I was thinking that myself but why would none of them turn up? Surely there would be one or two? Hard to tell.

Remember he failed 2 drug tests with Ohio.Look at where Gregory fell to last year - it's very, very likely Spence falls to the 3rd round. No way is the Jags pick at 5. If he's there in the 3rd though - it's worth a shot. |
