As a 1st rd pick? Yeah

As a rotational defensive lineman? Nah

Quote:Assuming we got Irvin, Jackson and Vernon or Williams, that might create something of a glut at DL.

We'd have:

Williams/Vernon

Fowler

R. Davis

Odrick

Marks

Miller

A. Jones

Jackson

Bennett

Alualu

Would you keep all ten?  If not, who would you cut?

My choice would be Alualu.

I keep ten.

Quote:from that list, probably Michael Bennett.
I can tell you're not too high on late round draft picks and letting players develop.  Malik Jackson is a 5th round pick btw, Sea. Michael Bennett was undrafted.   Just a few small examples of what good GMs can do with mid to late draft picks

I think Bennett started playing well at the end of last year, and I think he stays, barring the signing of Jackson AND the drafting of a DT high.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

They all play different positions. Irvin would be the OTTO. Irvin LEO. Jackson will alternate between outside and inside, probably starting over Marks.

I'm all for developing them.

If we sign that many players and are left with the list above, I would cut Bennett.  It's highly unlikely that happens so he may stick.

He didn't do anything last year for me to get excited about him, just being honest.

Yeah, I think Marks would come in on 3rd downs inside with Malik and Irvin and Fowler on the outside.  Unless we draft Bosa

We need to make a huge push for Bruce Irvin.  He would be the most impactful free agent signing for us, IMO.

He didnt play much early on but when he did he didnt look that great.  He played much better toward the end of the season though and got more playing time.

Quote:I think we are really looking hard at Ramsey for sure. If Ramsey isn't there it would probably Jack. Assuming we sign Irvin and Jackson.
It wouldn't surprise me if Dave pushed hard for a trade up to 3 to get Ramsey if he thinks the Chargers are on him, depending on what happens in FA. If we pretty much go all front 7 in FA that says to me we're all in on Ramsey come draft day. Dave's outright saying he would prefer pass rushers in the draft and he thinks the DB's are easy to come by, implying we want Bosa, pretty much confirms to me they are on Ramsey. Reminds me when Dave said he thought Johnny Manziel was the most proready QB before the draft.

Agree, I would be more than happy if we could just come away with him and Jackson and a few mid tier signings

Never going to live up to the draft pick obviously but I like him. Gives it his all every play. His catch on offense was a highlight of the season.

I think Irvin and Jackson would be huge gets, but to be realistic I think we would be able to get just 1 out of those 2.

Gus was asked a few weeks ago if he could pick one player that he thinks could have a breakout year this season.  He said quickly Michael Bennett.  Went on to say the way he improved later on in the season and he is starting to understand the game more!

What would it take to trade up 2 spots? I don't think I am of a fan trading up.

Quote:Not really, especially inside linebacker.

I disagree. Ragland, Matakevich, Wright, Morrison, Brothers, and Martinez are all guys who can go between rounds 2-4 and provide immediate impact. On top of that Trevathian is still out there and im sure a team like the Seahawks can afford to draft Jaylon Smith as well and redshirt him for a year.

Hopefully we can at least get 1.

because other teams want those guys too.

most teams would want those guys to join them.

Agree, Brandon Marshall ran a 4.81 at his pro day.  Im still high on Brothers and Wright and hope 1 of them fall to the 3rd
