It's realistic to get one of the best players available, which we did.

 

Looks like we've struck out on the next few targets.  Seems like this year's free agent crop isn't worth anything..

 

Even next year we won't have almost anyone worth re-signing (2013 draft class coming up) so we will have tons of money yet again to spend.

If that deal would've hindered us from signing any more free agents this year or locking up guys like Bortles, Smith, and the Allen's next year I'm sure you would've been the first one to complain about what a bonehead contract it was. Especially if Vernon goes on to have another 8 sack season.
