Marcus Mariota
|
This could be our surprise pick. Caldwell is all about speed and Mariota is arguably the fastest QB to possibly enter the draft. Oregon was known for running Kelly's no huddle offense and that has been something the Jags have been implementing this season. We are second in the league behind Chip's Eagles in seconds per snap. Mariota has the legs, the presence and the arm to be a franchise QB.

I had a thread going on him before the board switched. I hopped on the bandwagon, officially, about a month ago. I am all about Mariotta.

If we don't get Teddy.... I hope we'll get either Mariotta, or Tajh Boyd.
We doing it BIG....Florida State bringing that SWAG back in 2013!!!!

Quote:i'd take him in the top of the 2nd, no way we use the top overall. If Mariota declares he's going in the top 5. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:If Mariota declares he's going in the top 5.most likely but i wouldnt use the first overall pick on him. too much investment in a project. Quote:If we don't get Teddy.... I hope we'll get either Mariotta, or Tajh Boyd.I use to be high on Boyd then watched him more from last year, and so far this year. So much of his stuff is set up off of his ability to run at this level. He has a decent arm, but I have fallen off of him as a pro guy.

If Cleveland is sprung over Teddy and we're 1 and they're 2, think they'd trade us both of there 1st to go after "their guy". Clowney with the 2nd pick and Mariota with the middle round pick from Indy? I don't think Mariota will last that long in the draft but crazier things have happen, people fall down the boards all the time.

Mariota will become an Eagle on draft day and they will take him in the first round...

;

; Quote:Mariota will become an Eagle on draft day and they will take him in the first round... I actually thought of this watching him play. If we dont take Mariota he will not last till the second no way no how. That said if we somehow lose out on the #1 pick sweepstakes and Bridgewater is gone to cleveland and we sitting at #2 to #5 then its automatic to take him. @Cubel91: Thats an interesting question. It would be a monster risk as we could easily lose out on both Mariota and Bridgewater and have to settle for Fales,Hundley,Boyd etc. I might still take Mariota #2 in that scenario if he continues to produce and progress like he is and then pray Clowney falls to the colts mid rounder or just take the best available pass rusher at that point.
I've been watching Mariota a lot hoping I see stuff I like in case we have to draft him,, but I just can't get into it. People complained about the spread offense Geno played in but Oregon has an offense that is scoring 50+ no matter who the QB is.
And I've watched this entire game and I think like 70% of his passes have been screens. *EDIT* Now a bunch of wide/low/sailing passes. Definitely not one of his better games for tape. It's raining hard now so might have to be a mulligan game for him.

He has made some really nice throws so far. Also, my boy Josh Huff has 5 catches for 103 and 2 TDs.
