Quote:That's crazy that only one team has more cap space than we do after all of the money we spent.
I take that back. I guess we have 60M per Ryan O, still the most in the NFL. :woot:

Quote:So we are depending on essentially a rookie who's coming back from injury and hasn't played a down in the NFL and another player coming off of back to back season ending injuries. No drama queen, just be real. Not everything is sunshine and rainbow's.
Its not a sunshine and rainbows but that would be worlds better than.... how did they put it Methuselah and Don Quixote lol.

A rotation of Folwer, Davis, Bosa/Lawson would improve the pass rush from the edge and set us up nicely for the next few years.

Thats is awsome. We added some great upgrades, depth, still have 8 more draft picks and can proly roll all of that over to next year (not sure how that works but thats a boatload to take to next year with the increase in the cap). Caldwell has done a masterful job IMHO.

I agree - and I said "Father Time and Don Quixote" but I like Methuselah better.

Smile

I'd even add Second round edge guys to the equation if they don't take Lawson or Bosa.

(Ogbah, Floyd, Calhoun, Jenkins)

Any of those guys would be better rotating with Fowler than last year's LEO debacle.

Well that's before Beachum has officially put pen to paper. We'll be at 54.5 when that happens I believe, which would put us behind the 49ers I believe.

Is this the year Davis finally gets a shot at LEO?

The team didn't put him there because they feel he's a better inside rusher. Wash was the guy who decided on DL rotation. Wash is now the DC.

@ryanohalloran Updated #Jaguars cap space per NFLPA -- $60,688,257 (still most in NFL).

I think they value interior rush as well was edge rush. I really think it was more of just trying t put the best 4 on the feild. I could be 100% wrong im just talking. But remeber Leos rotate. I think he would excel in a rotation.

He'll probably see a few if Fowler+a draft pick aren't getting it done.

They did actually try him there late last season with lackluster results.

Either way, that's great. We'll be able to pay our studs and still buy able to get some people next year.

Interior rush is important. But at this point we need more bodies who can rush from the LEO. I don't have a lot of confidence that Fowler coming off injury, Davis (who they didn't want there despite the obvious lack of production last season), and a rookie will be enough. Can it? Yes there's always exceptions, but this is a pretty big leap of faith for a defense/team/coach/gm that needs to win now.

There's a lot of pressure on Fowler, a guy who is basically a rookie, coming off an ACL, and hasn't played contact football game since basically New Year's 2015.

The pass rush will be helped with our upgrades in the seconday and soon-to-be upgrades on the LB core Wink.... They both go hand in hand. Plus I'm sure we can find a great pass rusher in the draft. It's full of them this year......

GO JAGS!!

Is it ideal? Of course not but its an improvement. It wont go from worst to first but maybe to middle of the pack will go a long way. With the overall defense improving, i think we will be better in general.

I think the defense overall will be improved, I just don't know how much improved it will be if we are unable to affect the passer without blitzing. Until I can see what Fowler can do, this defense remains a very big question mark.

The Browns have a real chance of going 0-16.

They play Bengals twice, Steelers twice, Ravens twice ,Jets,Patriots,Giants,Bills,Miami,Eagles,Redskins,Titans,Cowboys,Chargers.

Very tough schedule.

It's one year, $2.5 million for former Steelers LB Sean Spence with the Titans. Dick LeBeau reunion.

I still think Zach Brown makes a lot of sense for us as our fourth LB.

Wow.

They DO have a real chance at an 0-fer.

If they actually go winless, I only hope, for Browns fans sake, the Browns ownership shows patience, given the lack of talent this team has.

Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

@gregauman Robert Ayers says the best defensive coaches take the existing talent and build a defense around it, rather than forcing a scheme onto players.
