Bosa or Jack?

(This post was last modified: 03-20-2016, 11:00 AM by Captain Uberpants.)

Suppose the draft goes:

1- Tunsil

2- Wentz

3- Ramsey

4- Buckner

That leaves Myles Jack and Joey Bosa on the board for us. Who do you go with and why?

On paper, just looking at who we have right now, Jack is the ideal pick. Our linebackers are now the weakest position on the defense.

Telvin Smith is a stud.

Poz has been above average but gets a little older and a little slower every year.

Skuta was average. He could hold the spot down but there is a lot of room for improvement.

If any of those 3 go down, we immediately have a gaping hole.

Jack's athleticism would make the LB Corp faster and better in coverage. We can plug him in anywhere in year 1. And if injuries demand it, he could find himself in a more permanent role in his rookie season.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Myles Jack is my pick.

The link is a draftbreakdown scouting report I found on Jack.  It was an interesting read.

Jack has been my pick for a while. I'm not pretending to be an expert, but the times I saw Bosa play I thought he was a little slow to be a great pass rusher in the nfl.

I think Jack is the better player and it's not exactly like we have a top LB core or one with a lot of depth.  Jack is my pick and the guy I hope we get no matter what.

BAP: Jack

BAP at premium need: Bosa

Voted Bosa, as Fowler needs someone to rush the edge from the other side on passing downs, and rotate for a breather on occasion.  Also, Fowler, although a high first round pick, is not guaranteed to be any good rushing the passer in the NFL.  I am not sure that a good pass rush partner will be available in round 2 or later.  I can live with Skuta being an average OTTO and Poz at MLB for now.  I can find some fast LBs in round 2 or later if I want a possible Skuta/Poz upgrade.

Yes.  Bosa or Jack. Either would be great.

I'd rather have Jack though.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Jack all day. It's been a while since we've had a true stud at linebacker. And we've never had a linebacker with his coverage ability.

Bosa is Bjoern Werner 2.0

Jack by a fairly large margin. He can play multiple positions and excel at each of them. He and Smith would be an amazing tandem for years to come. Bosa seems a little odd to me-not sure why, but Jack's outgoing and positive nature would also be an asset in the locker room as well as on the field.

That being said, the Jags do need to draft one pass rusher who can become elite. Therefore, they need to somehow get either Spence, Lawson, ogbah or Dodd- even if it means trading up to the top of the 2nd round and giving up their 3rd round pick. In addition to that, that should take one of the more developmental pass rushers like Judon or Ochi in the mid-rounds.

My problem with Bosa is that I don't think he'll ever be an elite pass rusher. I think he is a solid 8 sack a year guy. If you are ok with that at 5 then he's your guy. I think Jack, assuming his knee checks out, has superstar written all over him.

I agree. Bosa is not an elite pass rusher but he seems to do everything well. He is a disruptive player against the run and the pass and would be a great compliment to Fowler on the opposite side on passing downs.

Jack has a chance to be something special at LB and when a player like that is available, you take him.

If Bosa ends up a Ryan Kerrigan-type player then I would be cool with him at 5. I think we'd be set with Jack or Bosa at 5.

JACK by head and shoulders.  I hope bosa is over drafted because he is a pass rusher.  Jack is a next level player.

Eight sacks a year from Bosa would leave massive holes for Fowler, Marks and Jackson to exploit. Yes please!

Jack would be great too, but I think Bosa could be the missing piece in our D line.

And just curious, if all three were there (Bosa, Jack AND Ramsey) then would anyone here choose Ramsey first? Seems interest in him has cooled a little on this forum.

Mainly because Gipson fills the role of ball hawking saftey now.
