I did not go to FSU. I did one year at UNF and went straight into my career. I really don't care how many people got into FSU, but didn't get into florida. Like I said, this is what florida fans argue about when their team isn't any good on the football field. I didn't go to the school and then become a fan. I've grown up an FSU fan since I was 8. Now can we pull up and see which school beat which school in the spelling bee? Anyone have some video on that riveting match up?

So a few people who didnt realize that the war-chant and tomahawk chop was adopted long after FSU football program was established equates to FSU being a "sub-par university", and "UF is easliy the more prestigious academic insitiution"?

Universities/Colleges have Career development/placement programs in place with certain Fortune 500 companies to help those prospective graduating students have a job upon graduating, so what you are saying is nothing new.

 

Again, UF's (or any University) acceptance/average GPA per student rate does not determine if every student decides to apply there, its merely a "selling point" for the school just like other universities trying to sell their school to applicants.

 

With the way the Job market is trending, aside from the career placement programs, Employers are looking for people who have the proper degree(s)/experience related to the job they are applying for. It dosent matter what school/university/college that person comes from.

As I said earlier in this thread to me personally I dont care where someone gets their education from. I have a sister who attends UFand she is the ultimate Gator homer as well. But I am proud of her because she could have easily been a statistic by getting pregnant and having multiple kids, on welfare, etc. I have friends who attend FAMU, BCC, and UNF. My older brother attends Valencia College, and plans to transfer to UCF.I have family up north who attend Brooklyn and Baruch college. I dont devalue anyone's education or University based off of some silly sports fandom. 

 

Where I come from, people dont get to make it to post-secondary education for various reasons, so I applaud the people who is determined to make the best of their adult life.

So if a Harvard grad demands to be paid a yearly salary 200k, a UF grad 150k, and a FSU grad 125k, but the FSU grad interviews better and seems like a more qualified candidate (fit) with the company,and more articulate and is able to adjust in the work environment, who do you go with?

 

Its more than just the school you graduated from.

 

I know people who are OVER-educated with BA's and Master degrees and are just retail store managers or low level IT programmers. You want to know why? because they dont have the interpersonal skills to match in the job market today.

 

Just because someone (not all) has a degree from an ivy league school dose not equate them to being potentially the hard worker, that someone from a smaller university/school can become, or is what the company is looking for.

This thread is about a sports rivalry. When discussing sports, there are going to be natural disagreements about who's team is better and whatnot.

 

It got hijacked with bader saying one school was better than the other academically.

How did I run with it? And how did i ever put blame on someone else? I never cared other than to add my 2 cents to discuss that portion but nevertheless it was  irrelevant with the topic at hand.
