3-13? Mmmm, no; I don't think so. Play off's? Mmmm, no; I don't think so, unless it's because we've backed into them much the same way Houston did last season. An 8-8 season? Hmmm.... now that's a more realistic posibility, but we've got a tougher than usual schedual this season too, so I dunno. I see us going somewhere between 6-10 and 9-7. If we do get to 9-7 then maybe we will have a shot at the play offs, but 9-7 is a real stretch given our schedule. It remains to be seen if the dumpster fire that has been our defense for several years is acutally improved or not. The other 31 teams are also trying to upgrade and improve too, ya know.

We can get worked up over three win predictions. But the team has to really give people a reason to believe they can win more than a handful of games. Because I'm pretty sure the franchise has posted 14 wins the past four seasons combined.

There might be, or it might just be coincidence, but it's hard to believe that's the case when we see the Jaguars regularly getting beaten by teams that aren't more talented than them.

 

Only a few months ago we got a glimpse into how a playoff caliber coach goes about pencil whipping the Jaguars coaching staff in this SI article: http://www.si.com/nfl/2016/01/06/houston...l-playoffs

 

It's really crazy that a team with no QB was able to have their way with the Jaguars at the end of 2015. Looking through the article really reveals just how poor the Jaguars coaching staff is, and that we're going to have to endure another year of it is really sad for all of the die hard fans that just want to see the team make a real effort to success instead of sticking with what it knows doesn't work.

This is why i disagree with you because NFL is about fantasy leagues and marquee stars and we have 3 of them on our own team with Bortles, Robinson, and to a small degree Hurns. They all are well known players not only on a local level but national level as well and it's not an accident that we became the top story this whole off season with our acquisitions and i wish the NFL would've capitalize our momentum off of it.

So you're telling me that the NFL will lose money if they gave Jacksonville a legit Prime Time game? This Is the NFL for crying out loud and they are printing money hand-over-fist regardless who they show on TV and you and me both know the truth. This is also the same NFL that gave three Primetime games to Oakland, 2 to Tampa, Who haven't been winning in recent years as well and 2 to San Fran and their roster is rock bottom. I understand where you coming from believe me I do but I still felt like the NFL screwed us and will continue to do that because of our Market which is not right.

One thing the Jags should have in 2016 is outstanding depth.  Luke Joeckel could be the 6th or 7th OL on the team.  I expect another OL selected in the draft.  There are 2 starting-caliber RBs and depth behind them.  WR goes 4 or 5 deep and some promising players may be cut.  QB has 2 big sturdy guys who can take a hit, and I would like to think Henne could win games with a much improved team around him, but let's hope we don't have to find out. 

 

On the defensive side, the DL has a deep rotation of quality players, with at least 1 more on the way.  LB has all 3 positions filled with proven starters.  But LB also needs, and will get, fresh blood via the draft.  I expect 2 and maybe 3 LBs drafted.  If the drafted LBs aren't all ready to start they will certainly contribute on special teams and possibly on 3rd down.  There will be competition at SS and CB, and I expect to see at least 1 CB drafted.

It's a strange thing, the general perception tends to blur around the actual result. Sure there are exceptions, but normally when a lot of people think a team will be bad, it almost always is, and except for a few people that are big fans, the consensus seems to be that the Jaguars still won't be a good team this season.

 

If the Jaguars aren't good in 2016 the question will be "Why were the Jaguars, a team with pro bowl level players at multiple positions on offense and defense, (Bortles, The Allens, Malik Jackson, Sen'Derrick Marks, etc) and playing in a relatively weak division, not good?" Given those conditions what would be your most likely guess?

3-13 would shock me. The team has enough talent to easily win 7 or 8 games, even with Gus as coach. Underachieving and getting 5 wouldn't though.
