The Super Bowl is a terrible example. The Panthers got their [BAD WORD REMOVED] kicked because their tackles were trash. Imagine if they had good ones.

It's QBs and pass rushers. Oher and some random dude started at OT for those teams. You don't need stud tackles but you need your OLine to work in sync. Beachum and Luke will be fine for this team moving forward. Bosa will have more of an impact.

I wasn't serious, because I wanted to see what KYJaggy thought was more important out of the obvious QB and Pass rusher, but Carolina got absolutely crushed on the exterior. Von Miller had his famous strip sack from the outside because he absolutely abused the tackle.

Blake Bortles didn't win more than 5 games last year. You can do that with every position.


Joe Thomas, Tyron Smith, and Joe Staley were going through terrible QB situations with their team. That's putting it lightly. Tyron Smith also was part of the line that made Demarco Murray the leagues highest rusher the year prior.


I agree that it's QB and Pass Rush Specialist for 1 and 2, that's pretty obvious. I just don't believe that LT is less important than interior lineman, which was my point with KY.

WRs are a dime a dozen. If you want to talk about not needing an elite position to win, WR and RB are probably the top two. Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson are prime examples. Hell, our WR core is the strongest part of our team, and one of the best of them went undrafted.The list of good (elite even) WRs taken outside of the first round goes on forever.


How many elite LTs last year weren't 1st rounders? That's a serious question, I can't think of any.

2. Andrew Whitworth, Terron Armstead, David Bakhtiari, Kelvin Beachum, Donald Penn are/have been 5 of the best LTs in the league, and they were 2nd, 2nd, 4th, 7th, and undrafted. 

 

Don't get how the conversation went from top 5 picked LT to just first round anyway. Lots of LTs should get drafted in the mid/late 1st, along with every other position except K/P, and after the elite pass rushers, WRs, corners, and safeties have gone. I'm not really even saying Tunsil shouldn't get drafted very high as an elite LT prospect, the team that drafts him just shouldn't expect to be winning a whole lot anytime soon if he is one of their foundation players.

Clearly the NFL has a different opinion on LTs than you. It's kind of hilarious, LTs are paid the highest salaries in the OLineman world, and have been drafted in the top 5 just as much as QB and DEs.
