Quote:The Super Bowl is a terrible example. The Panthers got their [BAD WORD REMOVED] kicked because their tackles were trash. Imagine if they had good ones. Denver also had awful tackles. Joe Thomas, Tyron Smith, Joe Staley were all watching from home. Having a great LT is good and all but it doesn't mean you're going to be great. It's the QB and pass rush. Quote:Seriously? Did you not watch the SB?I wasn't serious, because I wanted to see what KYJaggy thought was more important out of the obvious QB and Pass rusher, but Carolina got absolutely crushed on the exterior. Von Miller had his famous strip sack from the outside because he absolutely abused the tackle. Quote:So did the Patriots and Packers and Seahawks..... Joe Thomas, Tyron Smith, Joe Staley were all watching from home. Having a great LT is good and all but it doesn't mean you're going to be great. It's the QB and pass rush.Blake Bortles didn't win more than 5 games last year. You can do that with every position. Joe Thomas, Tyron Smith, and Joe Staley were going through terrible QB situations with their team. That's putting it lightly. Tyron Smith also was part of the line that made Demarco Murray the leagues highest rusher the year prior. I agree that it's QB and Pass Rush Specialist for 1 and 2, that's pretty obvious. I just don't believe that LT is less important than interior lineman, which was my point with KY. Quote:Absofrigginlutely yes. Not even close.Lol you're right, not close at all. WRs are a dime a dozen. If you want to talk about not needing an elite position to win, WR and RB are probably the top two. Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson are prime examples. Hell, our WR core is the strongest part of our team, and one of the best of them went undrafted. The list of good (elite even) WRs taken outside of the first round goes on forever. How many elite LTs last year weren't 1st rounders? That's a serious question, I can't think of any. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Lol you're right, not close at all.1. You sound like Vic with this WR talk, and we all know what a joke that was. 2. Andrew Whitworth, Terron Armstead, David Bakhtiari, Kelvin Beachum, Donald Penn are/have been 5 of the best LTs in the league, and they were 2nd, 2nd, 4th, 7th, and undrafted. Don't get how the conversation went from top 5 picked LT to just first round anyway. Lots of LTs should get drafted in the mid/late 1st, along with every other position except K/P, and after the elite pass rushers, WRs, corners, and safeties have gone. I'm not really even saying Tunsil shouldn't get drafted very high as an elite LT prospect, the team that drafts him just shouldn't expect to be winning a whole lot anytime soon if he is one of their foundation players.
Bosellitis man, it's a bad sickness. Can skew perceptions of franchises for their entire history if you don't stay cognizant of it.
But yet the jags had one of the greatest WRs of all time and never did [BLEEP].

Quote:But yet the jags had one of the greatest WRs of all time and never did [BAD WORD REMOVED].Maybe if the defense could actually stop someone...... Quote:Joeckel allowed 2 sacks in his final 26 games at Texas A&M.Good point. He was meant to be the safest pick in the draft. Aaron Curry always amazes me with how badly he played in the NFL relative to how safe he was meant to be.
Quote:Good point. Danny Watkins too

; Quote:1. You sound like Vic with this WR talk, and we all know what a joke that was.1. It's all but a fact now. You could of been the 30th ranked WR last year and still had 1,000 yards receiving. Kelvin Beachum? You mean the dude LT needy Pit let walk on FA? Yea, he may be damn good, but he is not an elite tackle. If he were, the steelers wouldn't of hesitated to resign him. Top 5 is laughable, you are clearly just trying to fit an agenda. He didn't even play half of last year. LTs are far and away more important than WRs. We have one of the best WR Corp in the league, our highest pick was Marqise Lee... We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Bosellitis man, it's a bad sickness. Can skew perceptions of franchises for their entire history if you don't stay cognizant of it.Lol if only you were around to tell that to David Caldwell, an actual NFL GM, Or all of the other 6 teams in that last 4 drafts that spent top 5 picks on LTs. Clearly the NFL has a different opinion on LTs than you. It's kind of hilarious, LTs are paid the highest salaries in the OLineman world, and have been drafted in the top 5 just as much as QB and DEs. Quote:1. It's all but a fact now. You could of been the 30th ranked WR last year and still had 1,000 yards receiving. The Steelers have a pretty good guy in Villeneuve. I was really impressed anytime I watched him play. Quote:Lol if only you were around to tell that to David Caldwell, an actual NFL GM, Or all of the other 6 teams in that last 4 drafts that spent top 5 picks on LTs. I'd rather do what the teams that are winning super bowls do: Quote:Tellingly, recent Super Bowl winners haven't invested heavily in left tackles. While roughly 65% of today's NFL teams employ a former first-rounder at the position, only four of the past 14 champions did so. (Tarik Glenn for the 2006 Colts; Bryant McKinnie for the '12 Ravens, and by then he was a veteran journeyman after being drafted by the Vikings; Russell Okung for the '13 Seahawks; and Nate Solder, who had a very up-and-down season for the '14 Patriots.) Other data suggest that standout left tackles don't translate to wins. Since '07, 15 out of 32 left tackles who were voted first- or second-team All-Pro have played for clubs with losing records. (To be fair, the Browns' Joe Thomas skews these numbers a bit.)

Quote:I'd rather do what the teams that are winning super bowls do:The recent Super Bowl winning team tried to trade a 1st and a 2nd for Joe Thomas. The Browns wanted two 1sts. Clearly a devalued position. Quote:lol 2 of those WRs were first round busts. The best one was a 4th rounder that's not a cop. Since we're talking about "elite" LTs, how about elite WRs? What rounds were Julio Jones, AJ Green, ODB, Deandre Hopkins, and Amari Cooper, taken in?
