Not sold McCarron at all.  I'm having a hard time to believe that if guys like Petty, Manion, Shaw, Bortles, Carr or even Mett were to play for 'Bama, the results would have been different.

It would be interesting for someone to do a bit of research to compare Greg McElroy to McCarron. Same system, similar numbers...what separates McElroy (career backup) from McCarron (potential franchise QB)?

I liked Greg, also liked Brodie. That said, neither was asked to do their share of "leading" the offense as AJ has been asked to do. He has become the "driver" while the others have been along for the ride.

Not sure what that means. Sure I have a Teddy picture but every post I've made on here has said I'd be quite happy with Carr or at the time Mariota too. In fact I'm still about the only person who kept saying Mariota was a top 5 pick whenever he decided to declare...which would have been true this draft too.

That's great, but the idea is: finding those guys is like finding a needle in a stack of needles.  Expecting that of a GM is expecting too much.  Chances are your QB is going to come from the first three rounds.  Many of which will never be considered True Franchise Guys.  You can find guys like Rypien and Brady in the 6th.  But they were that needle in a stack of needles.

McCarron's going in the top 3 rounds, and I doubt the Jags wait till the 3rd to go QB anyway.  This thread originated with the idea that, like when Brady was drafted,the signs were all there and we're all missing it.  Again.

Looking back at that time frame, fellow U-M QB Drew Henson was rated much higher than Tom Brady by most talent evaluators.
