Has there ever been a crazier post FA/pre draft season?

#1 overall pick gets traded in a blockbuster

#2 overall pick gets traded in a blockbuster

Pro bowl CB becomes available for no reason other than $.

Still have a week to go.

Quote:Basically what SpeedyG said regarding cap. Dave has done a very good job structuring contracts that don't cripple us. Most are very front loaded with no dead money/smaller cap hits later.

I think if we did make an offer to Norman, it would be along those lines, which a lot of FA players seem to like as its better for them as well. Being that it's probably Norman's last contract, I think he'd definitely like a lot of front loading

You guys certainly know more about your cap and the contracts that you've given out than I do - I certainly wouldn't even pretend to know. I just think overpaying for a player, regardless of what cap room you have, is irresponsible spending.

We were rumored to be offering him in the $11M-$12M range. I think he can be had for $13M-$14M. If someone pays him the $16M he's asking for then they're crazy.

Source tells ESPN's David Newton 10 teams have already contacted CB Josh Norman's reps. Jaguars not among them.

Is it though? What's $1-2m per year to NFL teams? Brandon Weeden earns that.

I'm not in the "all in for Norman" camp but I think $1m a year extra doesn't make it irresponsible, especially if you structure it to be team friendly after a couple of years. The cap is always increasing, $16m a year might look a lot now but next year it won't. Everyone said we overpaid for Julius Thomas who is an elite Tight End yet this year scrubs like Coby Fleener are picking up contracts that aren't far off what Thomas is getting.

I don't think it's going to matter with Mike Dirocco just tweeting that 10 teams have contacted Norman, and that the Jaguars are NOT one of them.  Makes me wonder if we are going to make a move for the 3rd pick to draft Ramsey.

We're not trading up. That's pretty much a certainty
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

I don't know, I couldn't imagine it would take much of anything to go from #5 to #3.  Plus the Chargers still get their pick of the best LT in the draft.  Could be a win/win.

Tweet from Ryan O'Halloran (@ryanohalloran) - #Jaguars source on if anything cooking with Josh Norman: "Not that I know."

Ryan O will at some point. I mean the guy said to give him a 120M contract and give Panthers 3 1sts to get him...

Bklyn is already showing it.

I'm gonna wait for more info we have some people saying we havent contacted him, then others saying we have.

It just makes no sense if we didnt, we have the most cap room in the NFL and its a need, we would have to at least see what we can do.

If we dont then what a joke, we chase an avg player like Vernon but not a guy thats an all pro player

Oh well. I trust Dave's decision making for the most part (most FA moves have been good choices; most..). If he doesn't think he's worth that much or is too old for a long term contract like that, I'm good with it.

GO JAGS!!

Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!

Yeah totally.

As fans we want the big names and the attention of doing something like this,

Dave knows what he's doing, let's not all act like we're the GM here and whatever we want is the right move. If Dave and the coaching staff think he's a good fit/think he'll continue his play here and is worth what he's asking AND wants to come here, he'll be a Jaguar. If not, than he won't.
