How do traditional values or norms need to be destroyed for you to accept that a trans person using the bathroom next to you or your loved ones impacts you in EXACTLY the same way a straight person using the bathroom next to you?


Being transgender is a real thing. It's not some conspiracy where a bunch of people around the world are choosing to do to attack traditional values. They've existed since at least ancient Egypt and have hovered at a consistent small percentage of the world population. If acknowledging they exist and are not a threat to you or your values is going to cause your brain to melt, seek professional help.

Huh? If the article was written about black people and used the n word, it would show the author's predisposition. If it were about Mexicans or Jews and used a derogatory term for them it would be the same thing. Tranny is a derogatory term for a transgender person. If you don't know that, it's not shocking based on previous comments. But how does my pointing that out indicate anything other than I know trans people find that term offensive?

I can only go by a conversation I had with my niece when she was 12 (13 now), and my own memories of my childhood, when I came to grips with the reality of African-Americans and homosexuals not being what the current societal norms said they were.

 

Are you telling me a parent cannot have a conversation with their children that will set their minds at ease when they hear a long steady stream in their adjoining bathroom stall?

 

I don't know how to have a conversation with an 8-year-old girl who is becoming sexually aware and has been cautioned against trusting strangers that it's okay to allow a strange man to follow her into the bathroom to stand inches away in the next stall while she is at her most vulnerable with her pants down. If I say that the policy to allow transgender people to use the bathroom they are most comfortable with makes sense, then you are going tell me it is making women and children unsafe.


If I tell you transgender people are actually quite commonly the victims of attacks when they use the bathroom YOU would feel more comfortable with them using, then you will claim it opens the door for straight people with bad intentions to attack your loved ones.


If I say 21 states and 250+ cities have these policies and what you are describing just isn't happening, then you will ignore it and copy a link to a site with a conservative bias or just post some scattered response which does not address any facet of the post you are responding to.

1.) As i have said repeatedly, the link that i offered demonstrated more than one person and one instance of people abusing the concept of gender neutrality in bathroom selection.  The university of Toronto had to SUSPEND their version of the program.  Target came out as the most ardent supporter of this policy and within the last seven days they had to drag a peeping tom out of the ladies room.  As i stated earlier I really don't have a problem with trans people being allowed to use the facilities that they deem appropriate but the more and more time passes on I become less and less comfortable as i am confronted with the reality.  

 

2.) Whether its "straight people with bad intentions" or bonafide trans people committing the acts against women and children is actually irrelevant.  If we put the most vulnerable in our society at even greater danger just to assuage the comfort  of .1% the population then that's insane.  We can't let every peeping tom or sex predator into a bathroom just on the off chance that a legit trans person wants to use a restroom.  There has to be some kind of safeguard, and you have proposed none, in fact you have just dismissed the idea that any is needed.  You think that straight men are so demented and evil that they will beat up and violate any trans person in a bathroom but then at the same time don't see how someone could abuse the open choose your identity at will system that you propose? But i'm the one with cognitive dissonance?  That's frankly laughable.  

 

3.) Words like moron toothless fool etc. get you absolutely no where with me.  Moreover i find it ridiculous that someone who uses this kind of name calling and other profane language would accuse me of mocking or ridiculing anything.  I don't care whether someone is trans gay or any of the sort.  I care about the net impact that the decisions we make as a society make on the safety of our citizens.  I don't have to resort to name calling or swearing to make my points.  The fact that you do makes your arguments weak and demonstrates how insecure you are in your own positions.  

 

4.) You also said a few posts back that "You've never heard of" a Trans woman who was attracted to other women.  I find that interesting considering the most famous trans woman in the country fathered several children and is currently dating a female.  You can't hold that gender is a non binary concept and then present the idea that sexuality is.  

 

you can yell scream kick and throw your toys all you want.  It doesn't phase me.  Never has never will.  You can go on bloviating about indian spirits and ancient egypt until the cows come home.  If you're not willing to acknowledge the real unintended consequences of your proposal then you aren't taking the issue seriously.  And if i am to take your comment from above to mean that you want to extend this gender fluidity ideology to children then that is something i cannot forgive.

I cited a specific example that makes a lot of people across the political can religious spectrum uncomfortable or at least gives them pause: a trans woman who is anatomically male and is sexually attracted to women sharing the same restroom with natural born females.  

 

 

 

How is the above example any different for an anatomically female, who identifies as a female, yet is attracted to females, sharing the restroom with females? Does the presence of a body part make one more of a risk, even if someone who does not have this part share similar desire?
