Quote:Ryan Davis moving to a LB type role. Not sure that would be a good fit. He's a 4.85 guy in fast track shoes, no pads, and 10 lbs lighter. It seems to me the additions of Jackson and Day may possibly be pushing Davis out of the inside lightning package role, and they're trying to find him a new "home". It will be an interesting experiment.

I think it lets you put him in some new sub packages though. Put him at lb for a few snaps and rush him down the middle.

Quote:At Mike if we're lucky. I've actually argued against the get rid of Poz crowd, for years, but because we didn't have a suitable replacement. Now that we do, I'm with them.

Telvin - Poz - Jack >>> Telvin - Jack - Skuta

Sterling at TE should allow for some nice 2 the sets with Thomas.

On Poz - knowing they want fowler primarily as a pass rusher and not a stand up LB I'd say keep poz. A while back I posted more in favor of letting him go but i gotta agree with Highscore that in base 4-3 telvin/poz/jack is better then telvin/jack/skuta. Telvin and jack can easily mask poz's weakness in coverage while keeping him on the field for early running downs. Skuta has his coverage issues too and isnt as good vs the run as poz.

I think people dont realize these players are still catching up on football conditioning and nagging little injuries are going to be frequent. Just because you are in shape doesent mean you are in football shape just yet.

Any videos/clips up from yesterday or today's OTAs? Heard Blake looks good out there.

Some more from Mike Kaye:

Right tackle Jermey Parnell suffered a small fracture in his hand on Monday and was on the field with his hand wrapped on Tuesday.
  • Safety James Sample has done well in coverage so far. He was able to deflect a pass in coverage while guarding tight end Julius Thomas on Tuesday. Bradley says part of Sample's success has come with being asked to do less. The head coach says the team has scaled back the responsibilities given to the strong safety position.
  • For the second day in a row, I thought the running backs looked fantastic. Granted, non-contact drills are meant to test vision and not the ability to withstand contact.
  • A player that I have been very impressed with over the first two practices is wide receiver Tony Washington. He has shown the ability to catch in traffic and is open consistently. He will likely be in a battle for the final wide receiver spot come training camp.
Interesting bit about Sample who Bradley praised and also about the RBs, I listened to Gus earlier and he was excited to see TJ and Ivory getting along right away very well always together and helping each other. They could be an amazing duo for us.

Blake praised Julius Thomas, they worked together a lot during the offseason watching film and discussing plays.

Quote:Bowanko also didn't participate because he's got a torn labrum in the hip, and has been placed on the PUP list along with Woodard.

Thanks to all for the updates

Tim, is this a typo? The labrum holds the ball and socket joint in the shoulder. But its been like 15 years since A+P for me

Wait.  You're actually a doctor.  I'm going to assume you got into some intriguing field like gynecology?  Wink

There's a band of cartilage around the hip joint that serves the same purpose as the labrum in the shoulder.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

If his hip joint is mingling with his shoulder, he's got bigger issues to contend with.

Lol, that's what I thought as I read the thread. I was like what's his hip doing in his shoulder. Haven't been in a couple days, already a few more guys nicked up. Then I read up, and recalled that there are two pairs of labrums, in the shoulder and hip.

It's always good to get the occasional refresher when you've got the lives of others in your hands.  We wouldn't want you amputating something that wasn't intended to be removed.  :teehee:

The pictures of these guys are sweet. Gipson and Fowler on the field rocking those dark visors. So swag. I keep seeing all these new additions and then realize Ramsey and Jack aren't even there :o

I write literature on behavioral medicine, public mental health, and bringing psychosocial support into the global mainstream - in academia, corporate settings, and otherwise. I am as far from orthopaedics as imaginable mate.

It's truly intriguing. How will they mesh? Will it take a bit longish for it all to come together? Been so long since we had such functional pieces. It's going to require patience though.
