Allen Hurns Signs Four Year Extension
|
I think the dialogue is to just hate on this team. I can't wait till we start dominating this season. Hurns is that dude and is the type of guy this team needed. A true come up story

Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:There have been players who have gotten the big money contract and shut it down. The guy played through a sports hernia for a good chunk of last season. He's tough as nails, and he continued to go out there and give his all on every play. This is a guy who is clearly driven to be one of the best in the league. I don't see him taking a little break now that he's gotten paid. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I think if you are going to be cynical/troll about a signing, this is one of the last persons you should do it on, IMO. I say this having my share of crow to eat on Hurns. I was reluctant to praise him early on because I thought his familiarity with Fisch's offense gave him a leg up on the other receivers new to the scheme, and I thought it possible that once the other players became acclimated to the scheme or that once the scheme changed and his experience/knowledge edge would dissipate, his comparative performance would decline accordingly. But he has proven to be player enough to excel and outperform most irrespective of the system due to his work ethic, willingness to earn/be coached, toughness, and natural abilities. I'm more than thrilled to be wrong on that bit of speculation, and Hurns, as much as anyone in this organization's history, epitomizes to me the Jaguars ideal. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Exactly. He had the foresight to clean the roster and free up the cap space. With the rookie wage scale it was even a better idea he just had to hit on the player selections. Checks, check and check. I said from day one this dude is playing Madden the way he rebuilt this team and it worked lol. The future of this team is so bright. Heathy cap space, average roster age is like 24 and owner and GM with a plan. Quote:Precisely.Someone said it this morning on 1010XL. They've been trying to push him off the field for 3 years with other guys who were considered more talented based on draft pedigree, and in every instance, he's managed to win the battles and become one of the more productive young receivers in the league. The fact that 32 teams passed on him 7 times, and that we were fortunate to have that connection with Fisch to draw him here (although there are reports his agent pushed him to come here strictly because we had no talent at WR, so he'd most likely earn a roster spot in Jax). He was a productive college receiver, and he has turned into a great pro under the tutelage of Jerry Sullivan. They were saying this week that any time someone asked Sullivan about his receiving group, the first guy he'd always start gushing about was Hurns. That speaks volumes. I think this is a guy who has proven to be a consummate professional, and someone who is going to wind up being a tremendous asset to this community. He's humble, hard working, and most importantly, darn good on the field. The fact that he's young, and has a lot of career in front of him still makes me excited to see what his ceiling winds up being. My hope is that this contract leads to an even bigger one as he hits his prime. This is a guy with a great story. To see him ink that contract with his mother sitting beside him is a testimony to the quality of the player. I loved seeing him sign that contract and then just fold up in a heap in his mother's arms. He's got a lot of chapters left to write, but for a kid who came into the league with a contract that included $20k in guaranteed money, to parlay that into a contract where $20 MILLION is now guaranteed is just awesome, and it couldn't have happened to a better guy. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

The approach was painful to start, and slow to evolve, but now that these younger players are starting to prove themselves, the strategy looks solid. It just took a little longer than fans would have preferred, but I think from the front office perspective, things are right on target. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Glad the team locked him up... I was dreading the though of him as a Patriot.
I ain't no monkey... I'm an ape.

You can go look on Twitter and Instagram once his extension was announced and see how much people respect him. I was looking under comments on most of those which there's usually a bunch of cynical types saying mean stuff. I scrolled thru a lot and a lot of fans from other teams applauded and praised him. It's great to see that others have noticed what kind of player he is, and a good man as well. He's a NFL fan favorite by from what I see. Keep doing work Hurnsy!!
You either die as a good poster, or live long enough to become the troll.
Quote:That describes me in bold, and that is exactly what he did.I was skeptical that he'd be the force he's been initially, but when he came out of that first training camp, I was a fan. There's nothing quite like an undrafted guy with a great story who exceeds all expectations and becomes one of the best in the business. Those are the kinds of stories that help build a fan base. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:Now, get ready to witness the vacation.Again proving you are soft as a cotton ball on a pile of goose down pillows. Congrats to Hurns. Well deserved.
Looking to troll? Don't bother, we supply our own.
So some of these trolls i guess want to go back to the days of Jerry Porter. This kid is the youngest undrafted free agent in history to hit 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns. Did you get that in NFL History over names like Rod Smith, Victor Cruz, and Wes Welker . Much deserved and this was the same young man some idiots in here were talking about didn't deserve his spot in the top 100. Also if you think that he is going to pack it in I doubt it . He hasn't forgotten that no one drafted him, That they had been doubting him his whole career heck we have some that been doubting him two weeks ago and still doubting him today. He embodies the spirit that Gus and the Jags organization been trying to nurture no matter how you got here compete produce and the rest will take care of it self.

Hurns is arguably the hardest working player on the roster. He is one of the toughest players in the league. It is a pleasure to watch this young man ply his trade and I'm glad that he is a Jaguar.
Respect the game. Play with a sense of urgency.
1.) Take care of the ball. Win the turnover battle. 2.) It's all about 3rd down. Win on 3rd down to win the game. 3.) Playmakers make plays. The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays. Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

Cue Drake started from the bottom! Hurns so deserves this! Hard work and dedication does pay off.
