Bortles & Lee vs Carr and Mack

#21

To answer the original question yes I would take Carr and Mack for Bortles and Lee.

well I like Bortles more then Carr. I think Bortles has more upside and I don't see Carr ever throwing for over 4,000 yards or 37 touchdowns like Bortles did last season. I'd obviously love to have Khalil Mack but I think Fowler is gonna be really good to. Wow could you imagine Mack and Fowler as are pass rush dual. Rip Andrew Luck lol

Quote:Some good thoughts on the topic, the reason I stated Lee and not ARob was because Lee was our 2nd round pick and Arob was our 3rd. Mack was around at the time we drafted Bortles, and Carr was availible when we drafted Lee.

I really think Mack is going to be a Special player (already is, but has alot of road to travel still) and I agree that the disparity between Bortles and Carr is very small while its huge with Mack and Lee. Someone said Carr woulda got killed behind our line, well did you know Carr almost ran a full half second faster on his 40 time then Bortles did? I do admit tho that a QB who can take 100 sacks in 2 years and still put up the numbers he has, is special. I honestly think either way we come out of the deal sitting good.

Bortles ran a 4.93 and Carr a 4.69 according to NFL.com. That's not even .25 seconds and Bortles is the bigger of the two.

Yeah id take Carr/Mack over blake and lee

Theres a difference between blake and carr obv but its not astronomical. but Lee vs Mack is obviously not even close, Mack at LEO is a dream. As much as it would hurt to not have blake mack is too good to pass up, and Arob is still a jag in the scenario as well.

Bullseye said he would take the deal. Hence why I said any scenario.

Carr was not available when we drafted Lee, he was picked 3 spots prior.  So if you really want to do this comparison, you'd likely have to throw in Colvin or Telvin for a trade up along with Bortles and Lee.

As someone earlier in the thread said we should change this around some

Arob - Bortles - Fowler   Or   Cooper - Carr - Mack

I think I would stick with ours because I'm of the opinion Fowler is just as special as Mack,  Arob is possibly better than Cooper or at least equal and Bortles is far superior than Carr.  Carr is good and probably less aggravating and more consistent, but Bortles has the excitement to his game.

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

Mack made All Pro as a DE and LB. He's also arguably the 2nd best defensive player in all of football....

Fowler hasn't played a down. Fowler has a LONG way to go and that's an understatement.

I like Bortles over Carr. ARob over Cooper (although I like Cooper too) but the gap between Mack and Fowler seems to be very wide at this point.

To be clear, I would not trade Bortles for Carr straight up.

What makes me pull the trigger on that deal is when you include Mack vs. Lee.

HotRod71Nova...

just one minor point of clarification:

You said "...because Lee was our 2nd round pick and Arob was our 3rd."

To be clear, both Lee and ARob were 2nd round picks.

You have the sequence right (Lee was our second pick that year while ARob was our third).  I just wanted to clarify that both were 2nd round picks.

This was the 1st thing that came to my mind but that would destroy the debate, so i'll take BB5 and Lee.

Carr behind our line would instantly decrease his stats,  Bortles is a gamer,  an Carr would've prob flamed out.  Lee though, is not proven in the NFL yet,

but Mack hasn't had to carry the Jags D so for future reference, Lee could be just as valuable.

If Mack scored Defensive TDs then yes but Lee could change games with this Offense while Mack on a "Madden Day" could probably stop the deep passing threat all game, but would still be abused by a good O ala NE, GB, etc. and is not as valuable as a WR to me personally unless Lee totally busts.

Just my 2 cents

C'mon guys...this isn't even close. Outside of these boards it's split pretty 50/50 that the QBs are even...and heck I'd bet it's more like 60/40 towards Carr. Even if they are pretty even which is what I think, then Mack wtfdestroys Lee (substituting Arob for Lee doesn't work on many obvious levels). We're talking relatively close QBs one way or another, and then a top 3 defensive MVP caliber player vs so far a pretty obvious bust.

And if you do go farther as some have and added Fowler and Amari it's even more lopsided toward the Oakland group. If you had Carr on the Jags throwing the ball to Arob, Amari, and Hurns...and Mack coming off the edge with the rest of our existing defense. Holy crap that would make us a terrifying team and not just a playoff dark horse/hopeful whatever we are now.

I wanted Mack in that draft and Carr is my hometown guy...

But I'll stick with my man Blake. I think he'll end up the better player between he and Carr.

Exactly, who cares about consistency, aggravation and wins when there are exciting jump balls to watch? Go deep baby.

Dear Realtor, can we please add one more piece?

ARob, Bortles, Fowler, Coach Bradley

Vs

Cooper, Carr, Mack, JDR

This is too hard for me

Except that with Carr and Mack, Oakland has won only 2 more games than us.

IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

Exactly, and also except that Oakland is not remotely close to a standard in my view. They may get there but this 'new rivalry' between both squads is wholly fan based.

They went 7-9 in a division with the SB champs, KC and SD..... They played 8 games against playoff teams. Jags played 4 and 2 of those came against the unbeatable Texans.

You can't compare records. If we were in the AFC West, I doubt we win 5 games considering we lost to their worst team.
