Jalen Ramsey Knee Injury SMH

Still trying desperately to not be wrong, when they have already clearly been proven wrong with reality. Some of you wanted so desperately to be right that you would have been happy if this guys injury would have been the ~6 months you were hoping for. Pathetic. And again, go ahead and quote me and point yourselves out, no names are needed Smile

So perhaps you can enlighten us how a 6 week injury is somehow less serious than a 6 week injury?

For that matter, perhaps you can tell us if you thought, when the Jaguars first said the injury wasn't serious, he would even be out for 6 weeks like he is now?

Finally, since you raised the charge we would have been happy with the 6 month diagnosis because we were desperate to be right, cite the post(s) of mine that justifies that statement.

Hahahaha

Good luck finding one person who feels that way. You're also completely missing the point of this entire argument....

Quote:Timing has no effect on the injury itself but does have a major impact on the severity of the situation.

Small tear and he will be back by camp. Minor situation when looked at rationally.
No one knew how bad the tear was at the point when some were freaking out. It was all speculation and he was going for a second opinion. Generally, when you go for a second opinion, it's not good news.

Once it was declared a 6 week injury, no one was freaking out. It's why this thread has pretty much stopped since the diagnosis was made.

The very first post in this thread said it was a small tear and he should be back by camp. Everything beyond that was people letting their imaginations run wild.

#Jaguars DB Jalen Ramsey's 2nd opinion on his knee is early next week. If all goes well, could be back by the start of camp. That's the hope

That's the very first post.... "If all goes well" scares some people because guess what... Injuries haven't really gone well for this team. I don't blame some people for freaking out. Some thought Fowlers injury was just a sprain.

Subsequent posts in this thread had the range from 4-6 weeks to 4-6 months, including a summary of a radio interview with Steven Lucie, former Jaguars team physician.

I guess he, too, was letting his imagination run wild, when he said 4-6 months was a possibility.

We are primarily all here for the general good of the team. I genuinely believe that. Takes passion to argue, I enjoy those, even the ones I feel are inane. Still requires conviction of your viewpoint.

Tim brings up an interesting point. What about those who in a twisted way actually hope for negative news to validate their half-empty status? This is a valid phenomenon. Mankind's mental pysche plays a significant, often disregarded role in the events/outcomes we face.

Clearly, assuming the existence of people who do such a thing, those are likely to be aberrations when compared to the population as a whole.  Why compare those hoping for negative news to those hoping for good news but fearful of negative news?

Certainly you sense a distinction there, don't you?  If you are qualified enough to identify those "twisted" enough to hope for negative news, certainly you can tell the difference between them and those who, in no way, shape or form WANT the worst outcome of a given situation but is fearful of the possibilities, right?

Absolutely. My take was a general one on arguments and half full/half empty statuses, and the mindset driving those beliefs.

As prefaced, we are mainly here for the good, even the half empty guys. They are just naturally, or experientially predisposed to assuming the worst. Could be a flaw, could be immunity against impending negatively. As in, preparing yourself for the worst possible outcome. Different mindsets, different means of handling gloom.
