For what it's worth, I don't think Publix is all that great. Sure they're the best in FL, but I grew up with Wegmans which just laughs at Publix.

Big shout out to Danny Wegman! Publix is to Tops as Winn Dixie is to Wegmans


...and BTW, Wegmans subs are nothing to scoff at. Especially when u pay da buck fiddy for xtra meat. That being said, there are prolly 20 local sub shops up here that trump pretty much anything corporate.

Do you know where your turkey or beef comes from? If not, you're rolling the dice as much as any Publix sub consumer.

Yes - I buy organically fed, hormone and antibiotic free turkey and chicken. The beef ( for making my own roast beef) -  it's sometimes harder to find that particular cut organically, but I do find it most of the time.

It costs more - but I'll sacrifice elsewhere to eat well.

Lunch for me is more frequently a can of white albacore tuna over mixed greens with a small drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.  No bread and no cold cuts. If you like beer as much as I do - you can't eat bread and cheese all the time!


Don't get me wrong, I'll eat a run of the mill sandwich when traveling and options don't abound, but I make conscious choices when I'm able.

 

 

Here's hoping Myles Jack has been eating well and is ready to test that knee this week!!!

To me, the quality of meat and cheese are a factor but the bread is what really makes the sandwich. If the bread blows it all sucks.
