I think he cares because the duress he's been under makes him evaluate his priorities and I think "the good guys" in this universe generally care about their children. If he'd said "I don't care about my kid, go ahead and catapult him anywhere you want", it would have seemed out of character with what we know of him which is basically a good hearted guy, if occasionally mildly incompetent. But that's not the important thing. Like I said, he could have had some ulterior motive. I think he's getting a bum rap considering he's been in a Frey dungeon for who knows how long.

That's fair. Considering the lack of good people in the whole world it's easy to forget the tertiary characters that are good.

She got over on the waif, but maybe that doesn't mean anything.  At least Jaqen seemed impressed and gave her a passing mark.  She may have been there longer than we think.  In the books her training spans "A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance with Dragons" and it seemed like she was there longer than a few weeks.  Even at the end of Dance with Dragons she's just starting her apprenticeship.

 

I think the sword training SF was talking about was much earlier, with Syrio Forel.

I more content with how Arya's situation was resolved than if it had been one of the crazy scenarios posted in this thread. The only part I question was how well her body healed after getting gut stabbed and chased by the Waif all over town, with all the jumping out of buildings and tumbling down steps. As for her final fight with the Waif, I liked it. Puts out the light, and thus immediately seizing the advantage because of her experience with blindness.

That was my take as well.  She has experience being blind the Waif did not and Arya had a sword the Waif a knife.  I look forward to her return to Westeros.

I had laparoscopic surgery last year, 4 incisions in my gut all about 1/2 inch except one that was about and inch and a quarter. There is no way in hell that girl is running around like that after several stab wounds. I couldn't even stand up straight for several days.

Yeah, I was very disappointed with the whole Arya thing. They really just mailed it on with that whole storyline. Only cool part was her going all ninja at the very end and slicing the candle.

 

Maybe Arya is going to use one of those teleportation devices that most of the people in the show have been using lately and hop over to the twins and kill some Freys in the last episode.

 

Sandor's story line on the other hand is pretty interesting, because its quite different from the books but could turn out similar I suppose. Should be interesting to see the Brotherhood up in the North, hopefully Sandor does get to meet Sansa again.

Arya's entire arc gas been poorly done IMO. To many things left unanswered. It's hard to assume she's learned the skills we thought she would once she was sent all skipping and hopping around in the open after bailing on super assassins. Someone trained wouldn't do something that dumb.

 

Well, like I said, she was there longer and learning more than the show adequately conveyed. But ultimately she did come out with the win, so maybe that's what matters.

Saw that. After GoT ended there will be a spin off series based around the travels of Duncan and Egg.. At least that is the strong rumor. Pretty cool and I am always down for more lore from this world.

I can accept time jumps and the like in shows like this. That is not what bothers me. What bothers me about the telling of her story is how she is just wondering around flashing coin and not being remotely on guard. Then they try and get us to accept one night's sleep after being shanked and stiched up let's her run around. I am perfectly fine with how it ended. I really liked her cutting to dark and us not even seeing the fight continuing the mystery of how awesome of a fighter she might be now. It's that sequence I disliked.

I think there were really only two things to take from her journey:

 

1. She's (still) a survivor

2. Having survived remaining to be herself, her resolve is stronger than ever for having that experience.

 

So basically, she's "leveled up" several times.

 

It will be interesting, though, should Jaqen show up again.  When, and for what purpose... he seems to have respected her choice.  Perhaps more than he would have her submission.

 

Maybe he'll return to serve her (or she'll seek him out for his services) some day.

Yeah, that's a good point, she did seem kind of careless.  I guess I was thinking she didn't think that J would really put out the hit on her, even though he had pretty much warned her.  It almost cost her, her life.
