Anyone going to the game tonight?  I realize the Armada has a pretty small following although perhaps a few folks on here may end up going.  If I lived in town I'd probably check it out.  Wouldnt call myself an avid fan, more of a casual follower.  But I would like to see the team grow in popularity and if possible one day make the jump to MLS as a few other NASL teams have done.

 

Anyways game tonight is part of the Lamar Hunt Cup playoffs so the Armada will be playing the MLS team from Orlando.  Good opportunity for them to get on the radar a little bit in the world of soccer.  Armada have had a rough year so far but they havent lost in their last 4 games so starting to play a little better.  For those who dont follow soccer the Lamar Hunt Cup is basically one big march madness style tournament that contains every level of soccer in this country.  Typically once you get to the last 4 or so rounds, the remaining teams end up being all MLS with a couple NASL teams.  But some adult club level team from los angeles had done so well they made it far enough to play the MLS LA Galaxy team.  Think they just had their game and they got smoked.  But kinda cool for them to play in the big MLS stadium.

yea that is a bummer.  I think they played their other tourney game there as well.  I'm assuming the Suns are at the baseball grounds tonight.  Obviously the Suns schedule is set way in advance and these Lamar Hunt games can only provide a week or two notice as no one knows who will advance to the next round.


Anyways Orlando has a few of those aging international stars like Kaka and Julio Baptista. Could be cool to see them play.

It is, just like the first Cup game with the Battery. I read where they're bringing in additional seating for this one too. Hey, all they need is a field, couple goals, and a ref! lol

 

I wanted to go, but it didn't work out. My son and I follow the Armada from game to game. Went to three games last year. Lot of fun. Will have to catch one the second half of the season for sure.
